A Close Shave (Gillette Fusion)

Advantages: Style, close shave

Disadvantages: cost, poor blade quality

After using several types of razor and not becoming too happy with either of them I decided to try the new Gillette Fusion power razor. The razor was one of the most expensive on the market, but I don't mind paying extra for something that could be better than its competitors.

Upon opening the razor I was impressed to see a free blade that came with the razor that I didn't realise was bundled in the pack with it. The razor claims that the 5 blades shave closer than any other razor, as well as having a lubricating moisturising strip to soothe your skin.

In fairness, the razor does shave very well and the blades last longer than any other razor I have owned. The shave is smooth and close and i cannot fault it in this respect. On a couple of my blades, the moisturising strip has peeled away from the actual blade meaning it is very hard to use and I have ended up binning it. This is one area where Gillette could improve.

I have recently bought an electric shaver and now find this more convenient, and cheaper in the long run, however when I need a close shave I will always pull out the Fusion.

Summary: A great manual razor.
