What is the difference between men and women? No, not the obvious biological ones, but what is the most obvious difference between the two unique breeds of human ? well, one has to shave every day and the other a lot less often ?. But it?s important that men do try and increase the amount of times they create the baby?s bum appearance on their rotund visages!! In the years leading up to puberty the male species just cannot wait until they start sprouting all sorts of unspeakable bum fluff and approach that fateful day when THEY HAVE TO TAKE THE RAZOR TO THEIR SPOTTY VISAGES on a regular basis. In the years following twenty they start getting well and truly miffed at having to scrape their flesh with a blade every day and start going for the rugged George Michael look and then later in life they go for the artistic moustache in the mistaken belief that it creates some sort of animal magnetism which females find impossible to resist. At some point in this meandering ramble through the various ages of adulthood they will rely for a while on the foul, orange handled, disposable Bic razor because it?s so convenient but will quickly get tired of having to blood a new razor every other month and start looking for something more dashing and technical? ENTER THE GILLETTE MACH 3 RAZOR? It?s that very cool and swishing television advert that sells the big boys on the Mach 3 and the promise that they?ll get a shave that is closer than ever before ? the razor lifts and shears your whiskers not once, not twice, but an incredible three times and you?ve got a wicked lubricating blue strip which makes it glide across your face leaving y
ou soft to the touch and wonderfully attractive ? God, we?re so easily fooled? Well, actually, no, we?re not. Gillette?s Mach 3 razor is in all seriousness one damn fine shaver and you do actually feel very good after you?ve dragged it across your chin and (certainly in the early days of a new blade) it leaves a wonderfully smooth surface behind it. I?m in the habit of shaving of an evening because I?m far too lazy to get out of the sack early enough in a morning to sort myself out and I always find that even then my chin is still really smooth when I do eventually emerge from the pit of despond to face a new day. It?s quite a feat of bathroom engineering is the Mach 3 and I?m not sure whether the lubricating strip actually makes any real difference but at least it fools me. Gillette also make the point on their flash enabled site that the strip gives you a warning when the blade is losing its edge by fading away when you are no longer getting the optimal shaving experience ? God it sounds like an Audi. I?ve never cut myself badly with a Mach 3 and have been very happy with it. The company even now offer you a money back guarantee that you?ll get the closest shave yet or your money back. I started using the Mach 3 about two years ago now and it gives me one of the best shaves I?ve ever had ? Mrs D was suitably impressed when I used it for the first time and she was so supportive that she soon allowed me to get a pack of ten refills for my trusty blade ? hang out the washing on the Siegfried Line, Manfred, Mrs D and my money are rarely parted before there is a desperate need?.

- 07/07/04 I use the same razor although the blades are way overpriced. They sometimes do deals on them then I stock up. Good review.
