Advantages: quality close shave, weighty, sturdy, little blood loss
Disadvantages: replacement blades are expensive
First things first, I don't like shaving, I have to do it as I don't look good with a beard (not that I look much better without one).
I've tried all kinds of ways of doing it, I had an electric shaver for years and always felt like my face was on fire for several hours after using it. I used a variety of wet razers which would rip chunks out of my face almost daily. Then I found the mach3 and it made things far easier.
Previously a couple of days growth would require clipping down before shaving or face a blood bath as the hairs dragged the flimsy blades into my face, the mach3 on the other hand seems to hold the blades much tighter and even after a particulary lazy week the mach3 slices and dices without so much as a drop of the old claret on my tie.
The blue gel strip on the blade combined with a good shaving gel (i use gillete's shaving gel) seems to allow the blades to glide over my face, the handle is ruberised metal and feels nicely weighted in the hand so as to not slip or bend when applying some pressure where needed.
As long as the blades are kept clean they seem to stay sharp for a fair while and the disapearence of the blue strip is ussually a good indicator that they need to be replaced. The only compaint is that the replacements are expensive but i guess that is the trade off for having a quality experience.
Summary: best shave i've ever had.
