Advantages: Smooth close shave.
Disadvantages: A tad expensive.
I’ve never been able to get on with electric razors – I’m not sure why unless it’s those dentist-like buzzing noises, I really don’t like the dentist’s. Actually I just don’t think they give a close enough shave, a nice, smooth, bristle-free shave. The crown, and especially the nape of the neck are particular areas I like to leave bristle-free. Urgh you’re saying, is gorlagon really a wolf? Check Arthurian myths. I’m afraid it’s all a lot simpler than that – I just don’t like hair, well not on my head at least. I’ve tried numerous methods of head-shaving, some more successful than others and the odd disaster like the rather unfortunate Immac incident. Electric razors left my head not only stubbly but dry, where flaky bits of dry skin would fall onto my shoulders. A bald man with dandruff? Even John Thaw may have found THAT hard to clear up. I’ve tried numerous wet razors but never got the closeness I wanted. I wasn’t after a head you needed gloves to touch, I wanted the real ‘smooth as a baby’s backside’ look. After a long time searching Gillette saved the day. They brought out the Mach III with its ‘revolutionary’ triple blade system, it’s an absolute gem. It gives that very smooth shave I’d been looking for for so long. The position of the blade is different to other razors in that it sits at an angle of almost 180 degrees. That took a bit of getting used to as my scalp can witness. The handle has a nice, non-slip grip and it comes with its own handy holder complete with jolly useful mirror. The head is of the swivelling kind, a static razor head, like a sanitary towel without wings, is only to be scorned. It has a rubber, ridged edge which helps pull the stubbornest of bristles ready to be shaved not once, not twice, but three times – it’s the ‘revolutionary’ trip
le blade system remember. It’s a much-copied triple blade system as well. All this plus a ‘soap strip’ which apparently helps the pores of your skin close after the shave, thus adding to the super-smooth finish. Baby’s bum indeed. You can buy the razors in packs of four or eight and although they are expensive at around £3.99 and £7.99 respectively they are well worth the extra they cost. I’d recommend the Mach III to ANYONE contemplating a life with no hair on their head!

- 24/04/01 The best bit is the way they rinse through really easily- no clogging up.
And the proverb with babies bums?
Wasn't it 'Never a borrower or a lender be, lest babies bums be smooth as can be'? |
