Advantages: A very close shave, Less nicks and cuts, Nice range of products
Disadvantages: It will be used by your girlfriend, Expensive blades
If you are one of those men who have been suffering all your life from those small little nicks and scratches during shaving, then this is the product for you. Tired of those small pieces of toilet tissue stuck to your bleeding face every morning? So was I! That is until I went back to Gillette, the people who most possibly made that old razor you first started using as a teenager. Triple blade technology is not just another cheap marketing ploy; for once more is definitely better. Allow me to take you on a quick trip through the design. A Mach III blade consists of the following: - A small lubricating strip (which actually works!) - Three carefully aligned razor blades - A row of five small fins The Dynamics ------------ As you pull this technologically advanced razor along your face, the following is supposed to happen: Along with your shaving gel / cream, the little strip lubricates the path along your chin. The little row of fins “pluck” at the stubble and lifts it up, while the oncoming row of three blades shaves it progressively closer. Simple isn’t it? It does work amazingly well. Three independent blades mean less shaving “strokes”, and combined with the (working) lubricating strip it equals a less traumatic shave. The whole idea behind the “triple blade” is to decrease your strokes, therefore leading to less injuries and a longer blade life. The Look -------- There is no other razor in the clubhouse which looks better. A sleek silver and black design which would not look out of place if it was used as a stunt double for a spaceship in a George Lucas film. Handy rubber grip with “quick release” button for those fast, effortless blade changes you crave for so much. Price ----- A starter pack with the razor and one spare blade will set you back in the region of £3 to £4. Expect to fork out about
£3-79 for a packet of 4 replacement blades. You will find cheaper options, but I doubt that you will find a better razor. The blades do last longer than your ordinary, garden-variety razors’ blades, so I guess you could call that value for money. So what am I trying to say? --------------------------- This is the best razor I have used. Gillette has a nice range of products which compliment the razors, everything from cream, gels, soothing lotions, after shaves and deodorants to matching ladies products (to keep your lady from using yours). I did find that this razor works best with the Gillette-branded shaving gel, rather than the foam. The Mach III will leave you smooth, refreshed and most importantly, not needing a trip to the Emergency Room. Throw away those electric shavers and gimmicks, hand your other razor to your teenage son and join the Mach III club. Your skin will love it.

- 18/11/01 Good op, great razor, though I agree with GR-D - the blades are expensive though last a bit longer than others - I've started using shaving oil after reading a review on dooyoo - gives you a really comfortable shave. |
