Gillette. Probably the most well known name when you think of shaving. Been around for donkeys years, and have always been the good brand when browsing through Boots trying to find a new one.

Their latest invention into the world of self-preservation, is the Mach3. Now don't ask me why they chose that name, when I think of shavers Mach3 is not something I associate with it. You have to shave pretty damn fast to reach Mach3, and so far, no matter how hard I try, I haven't managed to get that supersonic boom as my razor breaks the sound barrier, maybe I am doing something wrong, I don't know. In fact, when I was in the States, I had to buy another one, and that was the Mach3 Turbo, now that thought is just scary! I have images of shaving away and suddenly when I hit 20 strokes a minute the turbo suddenly kicks in and I shoot up to 40per minute!

So anyway, enough of the name, what about the hardware.
Claims are it's the closest shave yet. And they are not wrong. I am not one for shaving, in fact I hate doing it. But it has to be done, so I have been through a fair few different makes and types, all usually sore, or feel like your shaving with a cheese grater but the Mach3, is like no other razor I have used.

So what makes it so special?
Well if you believe all this hype on the TV then its down the revolutionary 3 blades and lubrication strip.
Now if you believe all that hype, you probably also believe these shampoo adverts when they tell you its down to this new formula they have invented with some silly name like chronotreeleaf-oxide.
Basically, when its put into basic terms, it has 3 blades, which are well spaced and protected and a better lubrication strip, like they said. Its also things like, the spring system which allows the blades to move, getting rid of that annoying feeling when a multi bladed razor suddenly meets opposite contours on your face and the 2 blades want to go different directions, someth
ing has to give, and its usually your skin.
Also, those micro fin type things they use (can tell I know all the technical names huh) actually do work. They make for a softer shave without ripping the hairs out.
The handle is also well designed. You get good grip from it, and is shaped in such a way you can use it any way you want really and it works the same, easily.

What about looks?
Well not really an important factor in a razor, as it spends most of its time in a bathroom cabinet, only coming out to play now and then.
My first one was black, and well was black. My new one is a blue one, and looks quite stylish actually.
Black blades and silver trim (sounds more like I am describing a car doesn?t it) make it look quite a nice razor. Not one you would be embarrassed to leave out when you had friends round.
The handy case it comes with is nice too. Allows you to store your spare blades under it in a designed holder, and made from plastic, is strong enough for when you drop it in the shower, but tidy enough to not be bulky.

Blades?
Well, for a while, to buy blade for this thing meant asking for them at the counter and they retrieving them from a locked cabinet. To be honest I think the safe is a safer place for them than in the holder.
They are probably one of the most expensive blades to buy. A pack of 4 costs more than a pack of 8 for other razors. Worth the money mind you, and are getting cheaper.
They snap on easy without having to mess around with tight clips and getting it on perfectly square. These you can just push your razor into the holder and click it on, and you're away, nice.

Bad things?
Well one bad thing about this razor is it is too good.
Whys that a bad thing? Because I don?t see it when I want it. I usually find it on the side of the bath where the girlfriend has used it on her legs.
Apart from that and price, I cant think of any bad thing really. It's the best a m
an can get, as they say.
It takes 3 strokes, you take 1, and if the turbo kicks in, you better watch out!!!

Not really an op upto my usual length and standard, but then, only so much you can write about a razor isn't there

The Mach 3 is very easy to clean because the blades are clear of the handle - expensive blades though as you say
