Advantages: Recyclable packaging
Disadvantages: Does not sink in quickly
The jury is still out on this product.
Lush have created a brand new hand cream.
It is in exactly the same style packaging as its other two hand creams - a 100g, little black pot which is made of recyclable material and has a screw-top lid. In all fairness to Lush, they cram the pot full of product so you are getting good value for money.
This hand cream costs 6.12 and, as instructed on the pot, if you return 5 empty black pots they will give you a free face mask! Now that's a bonus and an incentive to keep you recycling your stuff and helping to save the planet - fab
The ingredients list is quite exhaustive, with a veritable feast of natural ingredients thrown in, though it does contain other not-so-natural ingredients so you should be aware of that and you do need to check the ingredients if you have allergies to nuts because they use a few nutty ingredients in this particular product.
This products main ingredients hail from the Gurugu Village of Ghana (hence the name), of which the main is Natural Shea Butter.
On opening the pot I am met with a pale, mint coloured cream which has a very distinctive fragrance. I can definitly pick up the undertones of rose in there and it smells very fresh. All good so far so why am I undecided?
Well, its quite thin in consistency and it feels lovely going on to the hands, very cooling, but it does not soak in very quickly and you find yourself rubbing your hands a lot to get this into the skin. You certainly dont need a lot of it. The fragrance sits on the skin and gives your hands a lovely smell after application.
To be honest I prefer my hand creams to sink in quite rapidly because often Im using them 'on the go' and having greasy or slippery hands when you're trying to use a computer or mobile phone, for example, is not good.
For this reason Im not sure if I would use this product throughout the day as much as Im doing at nighttime. What I have discovered is that it is very nourishing to apply this cream right before bed and to let it soak in and work its magic while you are asleep. And it's addictive too, I must admit, and Im not sure if this is due to the unusal but appealing smell?
So, I'll leave it to you to decide - why not buy it and see exactly what I mean for yourselves. I would recommend you try this cream first before buying it as a present for someone, as it may not be to everyones taste.
Summary: May be best used as a night hand cream
