Advantages: Nice fragrance, Nice bottle design, Reasonably priced
Disadvantages: None
One problem with aftershaves that I find is their inability to last all day. I find a little squirt in the morning is normally gone by the time I have arrived at work. Perhaps it is me getting used to the smell or the fact that it has worn off, im not sure. What I am sure about is the wonderful staying power of Hugo Boss Blue. I have to meet lots of people at work for different meetings and it is essential that I smell good to make the right impression. I therefore need an emergency aftershave in the car for when meetings take me by suprise. Blue is an aftershave that really does last. I know this because my wife always asks me "who are you trying to impress at work?" So If im squirting at 8:30am and getting in at 6pm, that is a pretty good test. Fragrance. Its a very clean, fresh smelling fragrance. Not your sweet smelling types such as the Calvin Kleins or Issey Miyake types. It is not at the other extreme of musky type fragrances such as Pi. Instead it falls somewhere in between that is both pleasant on the nose and on on the skin. Irritabilty. Like I have just said, it does not burn or cause rashes. If you have just shaved it obviously stings a bit but all aftershaves do. Bottle. Its a small egg shaped bottle with a flat bottom and a good spray nozzle. The nozzle is perhaps a let down because it is made from Grey plastic. Perhaps a Metal finish would be nicer. The bottle itself is made from Blue glass. It is a handy size and shape to carry around with you and loks quite resistant to breakages and smashing. I have dropped it a few times without a problem.Looks good on your shelf too. Fashionable? It seems to be quite popular with people. It is not the most common smelling fragrance around but it is worn by a few people I know. The ladies certainly like it. Price. Reasonable. At £30 it is quite good value. Its not the biggest bottle in the world but you get a lot of aftersha
ve for your money. Its available from all good aftershave retailers such as Boots, Debenhams, etc. Overall. A very good buy if you want a product to last. It smells nice and is popular with the ladies (or is that just me?). Its cheap enough to make it an everyday fragrance too.

- 07/06/02 The length of time a fragrance stays with you can depend upon how oily your skin is. If you are not naturally oily, you can use a fragrance free moisturiser (etc) first and this will give the scent something to 'cling' to. (Or so I've been told anyway!!!) |
