Advantages: FRESH, NOT TOO HEAVY, CONTEMPORARY
Disadvantages: FADES QUITE QUICKLY, EXPENSIVE
INITIAL NOTE ---------------------------------------------- ------- On christmas morning, I was pleasantly surprised with a long elongated box, wrapped up carefully. As I opened the box, again, was welcomed by masses and masses of white card (to make the bottle look bigger I think on the shelf - a little commercial trick I think) I really like this smell, but will warn that it isnt the taste of everybody. One good thing about this aftershave is that it isnt over sickly sweet like a lot of mens aftershaves are today - almost like perfumes really. It has quite a bitter smell and is quite masculine (but not old spice masculine lol) The Packaging and the Bottle ---------------------------------------------- -------- The bottle comes in a blue white and silver box. It is quite tall, and looks good on the shelf. In the smaller section of the white box, it reads Issey Miyake, FRANCE, followed by the name L'EAU D'ISSEY POUR HOMME, followed by the volume details. When I take the bottle out of its packaging, it looks really funky and especially contemporary. Its wide and tall, with a very unusual top, that slants inwards to a peak at th e top - which makes it look really sophisticated ( so will look wicked on the bathroom shelf lol) It feels comfortable in the hand, and is very simple to use, with a simple pull of the top. The vapouriser is very strong, and therefore will give a note of caution, so that you dont end up pressing it all the way down, and quite hard, only to realise that half of the bottle has gone after one spray. I however have taken the vaporiser out, and just dab some on my hands and then slap it on the old face. Smell and feel ---------------------------------------------- ------------------ When you slap it on your hands, just feels like you have water on your hands (some aftershaves can be really thick, my dad for example has one by paco rabanne, and its almo
st like treacle when you put it on to your hands its that thick. The ow factor when you slap it on your face is definately a wee bit painful. The sting goes quite quickly, but none the less, worth a mention. Now, most importantly, its smell. When you open the lid, and take a whiff, the first thing that comes to mind is an orchard. It has a very fruity aroma, with a strong essence of citric fruits like limes, and lemons. Its very light, and really fresh, and doesnt make you smell like a ladies handbag. Theres also a bit of an acidic kind of smell to it (quite hard to explain really) but nothing sinister. Conclusion ---------------------------------------------- ------------ A very nice aftershave that is quite unusual, and definately unique to most colognes on the market at the moment. If I could describe the smell in lehmans terms, I would almost definately say that it was a cross between a contemporary aftershave and an older 'old spice' cologne. It would be suited for any occasion, not too strong for the work place, not too light for a nightclub, and not too sweet that it smells feminine. I would definately recommend at least smelling it, as it is very nice, and would be a brilliant gift for any man.
