Advantages: It works!
Disadvantages: Could do with being in a bottle.
Seeing as the ravaging effects of time are constantly hot on my heels, I feel the need to moisturise my mush (as most of us do nowadays... yes even blokeys are doing now).
I'd run out of my usual moisturiser and so picked up a little pot of Johnson's "24hour moisture" for the purse pleasing price of £1 (I'm no longer ashamed... it was yet another Poundland visit).
****What do you get?****
The packaging is a little pink box which houses the 50ml glass pot of moisturiser. I have seen slight variations on this moisturiser which can be found in the 'dry & sensitive skin' variety; but as mine was from the land of Pound, it was Polish (exactly the same as the English 'version' except that I had to squint a little harder at the dinky English translation label slapped on). My particular version is for 'combination skin'.
A quick scout around shows that this is an affordable option, with Superdrug.com currently stocking it at £2.00 a pop.
I won't list ingredients as there are reams of strange and fanciful chemicals (and are likely to change slightly depending on which skin-type version you opt for).
****Using this bad boy****
Upon unscrewing the cheapy-looking pink plastic lid, I was met with a lightly perfumed and reasonably thick consistency of moisturiser. The perfume was a pleasant smell, best described as 'floral' (but not in a 'elderly relative' kind of way).
Now, I'm never really a fan of moisturisers that I have to scoop out as I tend to make a mess and end up with random bits of fluff in the pot(?!), but for the price I'm not going to be too bothered about that!
When I scooped some out, I found that it wasn't quite as thick as I initially thought, but this actually worked out better as the stuff went on beautifully.
I found that I only needed a very small amount, as it spread onto the skin very easily and was absorbed extremely quickly (as claimed by the packaging - nice to see that companies do get it right from time to time!).
The packaging also mentions about it being an "excellent base for make up", and I would have to agree, because it is such a light and quickly absorbed product; after a minute or so I couldn't detect any unwanted residue or greasy feeling to my skin.
Another bonus for me, is that my skin is actually a bit temperamental on my face, so I was happy to find that I didn't react or have any form of blotchiness (some products have that effect on me), even when I used it on the eye area.
I also found this to be one of the few moisturisers that doesn't give me spots with frequent use. This makes it a winner in my eyes!
****It's the fiiinal countdown... doodoo doodoo...****
Overall I have been extremely impressed with this product.
Pros:
Goes on, & is absorbed very quickly.
Doesn't leave residue.
Gentle enough to use daily.
Doesn't leave me looking like a Domino's Pizza after repeated use.
Not a bank-breaker.
Cons:
A larger pot (or squeezable bottle) would be preferable.
Doesn't offer 24 hour moisturisation.
Although I've mentioned a couple of negatives above, I would never realistically expect this to moisturise my skin for a whole 24 hours. However, I can use it in the morning and my skin is still noticabley soft in the evening after a day at work (air conditioned I'd like to add - which normally kills my skin!).
Similarly, although the packaging is on the small side, you really don't need a great deal of this to get the desired effect. The way it almost 'melts' into the skin means only a minimal amount is required (particularly if you usually use some sort of night cream in the evening).
All in all I will definitely continue buying this alongside some of my more frivolous girly moisturisers. It is a great little thing to pop into your bag for flaky-faced emergencies.
Even the boyfriend has nicked it a couple of times so it can't be that bad!
Summary: A Magnificently Moisturised Mush.
