Advantages: They do get makeup off,
Disadvantages: They hurt my eyes, they take ages to get a clean effect and you may need double after a night out
Well I tried these only last week after I had been crying and needed emergency makeup remover.
They were on offer at 2 for £4 at sainsburys with the wipes they do, and well, I am glad I bought the wipes too.
They come in a circular box, white with a pink lid and have a plastic film keeping them safe in the stores.
Straight away I went into the toilets, took off my hevay sunglasses and took put two of the cirlce shaped patches wo wipe my eyes with.
I placed one over each eye and sighed relief that no one I knew had caught me with black all over my face! I then shuffled them a little so as to pick up the rest of the mascara which I knew was still on my lashes, slid the patches along my lashes onto my cheeks and off my face, it had picked up quite a bit of mascara. Then...my eyes!!!
This really stung, I straight away got out a wipe and tried to calm donw my eyes which now were hard to keep open. I could feel where they stung, it was on the edge of the top eye lid. None had gotten into my eyes- or either that it did and didnt affect me, but it was the top of my eyelids where I had slightly rubbed my eye lashes to remove the mascara.
The did partially work, but not really. I have to be honest, my mascara is dior and my usual eye makeup remover is clinique. My mascara is hard to remover anyway, and the previous eye makeup remover is very delux and works exeptionally well. This really did pail in comparison.
I think what also added to the pain was the fact that these are not rerally all that smooth, they have a very slightly roughened texture to them, good, I guess, at picking up mascara stuck on lashes, not so good though, with delicate skin.
I think you would need a good few swipes of these wipes to get a totally clean effect, it get makeup off, but slowly. And painfully.
I also found the patches quite dry. I think maybe storeing them upside down is a good idea as all the liquid must have sunk to the bottom. But the moistness-or lack of, that they come with, really is not enough for me.
One pack I think would last me about 2 weeks, and if bought on the current offer, would be £1 a week. I usually use clinique which is painless and lasts about 2 months a bottle which is £11, or £1.38 a week, so buying these patches are a saveing of 38p a week, I know stuff adds up and all, but to be honest, I would pay money gladly to not feel like I am being blinded! Plus I wouldnt trust these after a night out, they are thick enough, but there jsut isnt enough power behind them.
Summary: like using a sharpened HB pencil for eyeliner.
