Advantages: none
Disadvantages: smelly, greasy
This is a UK company who started out by mainly selling their products online. The first way I had heard of these was nearly a year ago now when I got some freebies off them. Some lovely free samples to try and impress us with their products. Since then though I have noticed their products starting to get into my local shops ie, Wilkinson's . And first thing i noticed was the price. It was more expensive than my prferred Gillette shaving Gel that I find quite good. This became a bit of a shock to me because from what I had expierienced from their oil was that it was in no way worth the money to me anyway. The first thing that I could remember about the King of Shaves gel was that it stank. It smelt absolutely disgusting like the Olibus oil that you get for when you have cold or Flu. It also reminded me a bit of the old Tinctus Oil that you get for toothache as well. The smell nearly put me off straight away as I thought how the heck could anyone honestly expect you to shave with this stuff possibly before going out and have to stink of this all night. You may as well plaster yourself in Vick's Vapourrub or something. Yuck. Though I thought it stank I still tried it. That reminds me of nearly exactly what I think the smell reminds me of, those Vicks sticks that you put up your nose when your sinuses are blocked. A kinda cheap menthol smell. This was where shock number 2 totally hit me as it vas so greasy it felt more like a molten version of vasaline. I had already put the stuff on so I started shaving and to tell the truth I have very sensitive skin. This product gave me no protection from razorburn whatsoever. In fact by the time I had nearly finished shaving with it I was in pain as it is more like a balm that you may use after a shave than something you would want to shave with. Well when I had finished shaving I looked like a half cooked beetroot as my neck and jawline as well as my cheeks were red raw. I was in pain and I stunk, in
fact i felt more of a mess after shaving than before. Well then I had to gently wash myself about four or five times before the smell faded enough for me to tolerate it. Then I had to wait about an hour before i dared to apply any aftershave, because my neck was so raw and it felt like a pizza with all the small spots that had come up. Very tender indeed , that was my first impression and i was silly enough to think that I may have laid it on a bit thick and tried it again. Even the second time i felt exactly the same, the rest of my freebie samples were instantly dumped in the bin. Check out the freebie sites to see if you can still get a sample of this to try before buying as this is meant to be for sensative skin. If you are like me you may be in more pain with this than anything else and personally I much prefer the products that I know and trust before trying out others. Though the packaging may have improved a lot my expeirience of this will not ever allow me to try this again of my own free will. here is the url of their site if you want to look it over to check it out for yourself. http://www.shave.com
