Advantages: Good value, Kind to skin
Disadvantages: There aren't any, really.
Sorry I haven't written any opinions for a while, I have been exfoliating, with the super scientific-sounding K-XF. It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago, and yes, there is actually a reason for me bragging about that - a few, actually. The first is that it was my birthday, which means I get more attention than usual. The second is that I am now 22, and my cynical friends love reminding me that although I may not realise it, my skin is losing its suppleness, and has been doing so since I hit 18. So, aptly, my sister's fiancé bought me a bumper pack of King of Shaves products (the third reason). Grateful as I am, the quantity of washing products I received implied that I could do with a damned good wash. In fact, short of an acid bath, there was so much here for washing that dirt looked like it could soon become a distant memory. The K-XF Facial Scrub particularly caught my attention. Having quite sensitive skin, I have always been weary of exfoliating products. Applying them is fine - but wait half an hour or so, and I'd soon feel like Hannibal Lecter had popped over and given me one of his special 'face lifts'. Ouch. So usually, no exfoliation for me, which meant it was harder to take care of those dry skin blues. Reading the back of the K-XF bottle, I got rather excited - Non tissue-destructive jojoba micro-particles, moisture retaining mango oil and non-soapiness confused me so much I knew straight away that this product was going to be good. How can something with that much science be bad? THE INGREDIENTS Very complex, and luckily, a previous reviewer of this product has listed them all, so there's no point in me repeating the process, is there? My advice would be to look at his if you must know the chemistry. THE SMELL A pleasant, subtle smell which thankfully isn't overpowering at all. Just smells fresh and nice. I can't really say any more about that until t
hey release smells onto the internet. APPLICATION The bottle is quite straightforward in its instructions: 1. "Thoroughly wet face" - This can be done using water, probably from the tap, possibly from the bath or the toilet. As long as the water is definitely clean, a stream or fountain will be fine. 2. "Massage a small amount of K-XF well into the skin" - Circular motions over the face, clockwise, anticlockwise, or a combination of the two. Try to avoid the eyes! 3. "Rinse well" - Use water from the same source you wet your face with a moment ago. Or another if you're feeling crazy!!! I followed these steps closely. Rather sweetly, the bottle also tells you to "enjoy!", so I tried to bear this in mind throughout. Oh, apparently it's also best to use this every other day - every day is probably overkill. THE RESULTS - STRAIGHT AFTER I followed by using the King of Shaves moisturiser. Obviously, as with washing generally, it's best to follow it with a good old moisturise to try and stop the skin tightening and drying and cracking to pieces and bleeding. Once I had done this, my face felt fresh and clean. Very fresh and very clean. THE RESULTS - AFTER 30 MINUTES This was the crunch time. Even after moisturising, most exfoliating products made my face tight and dry, and I'd start feeling it by now. But - good God! - my face still feels good! And it did all day, without tightening or drying as with other products. It seems like those long words and scientific marvels have worked!!! So, after two weeks, I am enjoying skin which feels rejuvenated by removing all that dead skin, rather than feeling like I have used sandpaper for a flannel. £4.50 is how much this stuff retails for, and I will definitely buy more in the future, although the tube I've got looks as though it's going to last a while. This product and o
thers by King of Shaves can be ordered over the internet for convenience too, and there is a loyalty points system for doing so. All in all, I have no complaints at all. It's great to find products like this that even those with sensitive skin can use - pleasure without the pain! P.S. I was never a dirty person, ever.
