Advantages: Can see where you are shaving, no razor burn, moisturises skin
Disadvantages: can clog up razor
Its been 24 hours since I shaved using King of Shaves Kinexium advanced shaving oil and I am as smooth now one day later than if I had just shaved using my usual Gillette foam. In fact I am not even going to bother shaving today. After inspecting the path left behind from the first stroke of my razor the difference was amazing. Normally I can still see the minute little black dots of each whisker that haven't quite been shaved close enough but this time nothing to see but smooth skin, a shave that could not be any closer and the blade just glides across the skin with consummate ease. This is an outstanding product and I cannot ever see myself using anything else. I only bought it by chance when I saw it sitting on the supermarket shelf as I was about to select my usual foam. I work away from home every other week and a big can of foam takes up most of the room in my wash bag so a tiny bottle not much bigger in size than ladies lipstick seemed perfect in reducing my payload. I had used King of Shaves original oil a couple of years ago when I had it given as a Christmas present and although very good its oily nature meant my triple bladed razor was continually getting clogged up with bristles. Even frequently swishing the razor about in the washbasin didn't seem to help clear out the debris very much. Needless to say I never did buy a replacement after finishing the bottle. However this newer advanced oil doesn't do this so long as you give the razor a rapid swish through the water every few strokes. A major advantage in using an oil as opposed to gels or foams is you can actually see where you are shaving. Countless times I have nicked an inconveniently positioned mole just above and to the side of my top lip due to foam blocking my vision. The biggest plus though is for those like me that have sensitive skin and suffer from razor burn. King of Shaves has totally eliminated this problem for me leaving my skin feeling
fresh, supple and moisturised and probably eradicated the need for after-shave balms. There is a temptation to use far more than the recommended one or two pumps from the dispenser. You think to yourself "no way is that going to be sufficient" particularly as you cannot see anything once it has been massaged into ones face but it really is if you only have short growth. For two or three days growth it would be prudent to use three or four drops and it would be beneficial to wait a couple of minutes for the bristles to soften before starting to shave. It may seem expensive at £4.49 for such a small bottle but it does claim to give around 100 shaves. In my mind this represents excellent value for money for a top quality shave with no razor burn. I'll just add that I also use a Gillette Mach 3 which I consider to be the best quality wet razor on the market. The two together create a formidable partnership, indeed one that looks like staying together in my wash bag till death us do part.

- 19/09/02 Hmmmmm ? I love the King of Shaves products. They are as good as you say !
Nice op for that !
I disagree with the Mach 3 bit, i think there over rated and expensive, i also have a chin beard and i find it offers little in the way of control around my whiskers.
But i digress, i enjoyed your op, you'll have to write more of 'em ;O)
