Advantages: Natural smelling rose scent, smoothens without drying skin

Disadvantages: Slight burning sensation

This year I was lucky enough to get on the testing panel for The Green Beauty Bible (organic/natural sister book to The 21st Century Beauty Bible). I was quite unbiased when testing most of the products because I didn't know most of the brand names and therefore had no idea of the price or their reputation either. I had ten things to test and this was the facial scrub for sensitive skin (though I don't have sensitive skin).

It is made by a brand called Logona and the product's name is Facial Scrub Cream (Sensitive) and it claims to be deep cleansing for dry and sensitive skin. My skin is neither dry nor sensitive but I was given it to test anyway. It looks to be a German company as the primary text is in German, but that doesn't matter too much because there aren't instructions on the tube, and anyway it's pretty self explanatory. The tube is nothing special to look at - neither fancy nor unattractive it's just good for its purpose, being flexible and standing on its lid so that the product comes out easily when squeezed.

As there are no instructions I use this like any other scrub - cleanse my face first to remove any makeup/dirt then squeeze out a small amount and get massaging it into my damp skin. The texture of this scrub is pleasant, unlike many other scrubs you find which are too abrasive and just scratch you skin, this is very gentle in its creamy shea butter base. It smells appealing too, a natural yet quite strong scent of fresh roses. I'm not the biggest fan of rose scents in beauty products but this was quite pleasant because it smelt so akin to a real rose.

I couldn't really fault the texture and the scent of the scrub but strangely, as this is said to be for dry and sensitive skin which I do not suffer from, this cream started making my skin feel like it was burning. It wasn't an overly strong sensation but it was certainly mildly unpleasant and left me wondering what it would actually be like if you used this and DID have sensitive skin. Once I had rinsed it off it didn't burn and there was no sign of redness or irritation and my skin looked a bit fresher. I found that due to the cream texture and the fact it wasn't a foaming product this left my skin adequately moisturised for the evening unlike other scrubs which can be drying and make your skin feel tight.

Using this 1-2 times weekly for a few weeks I would say that it's reasonably good but not amazing enough that I would definitely say I'll repurchase it when my tube runs out. It works just fine but I have other things which I prefer to use over this. However, at £8.50 for a 75ml tube which would last me a few months it is reasonably priced so I would consider it when the time comes.

See www.logona.co.uk for more information on the brand.

Summary: A rose scented gentle facial scrub which works effectively

Interesting that it made your skin feel uncomfortable but you don't have sensitive skin. I wonder, if they'd sent it to a tester who ticked the box for sensitive skin, what their reaction would have been (I suspect, there's a good reason why people with sensitive skin wouldn't be top of the list for testing! Ace review, as ever, well written and concise. Lou x
