Advantages: Exfoliates, cleanses perfectly and makes your skin feel smooth and soft
Disadvantages: Messy, but there's no real down-side!
Angels on Bare Skin is described by the people of Lush as a 'facial cleanser' and is part of a range of cleansers that come in semi-solid form - you need to lather them up with water before applying them to your skin. Other products in the range include Aqua Marina, Baby Face, CoalFace, Dark Angels, Fresh Farmacy, Grease Lightning and Herbalism, of which I've tried several, and never have I found one as good as Angels!
Firstly, the ingredients:
Ground Almond (Prunus dulcis), Glycerine, Kaolin, Water (Aqua), Lavender Oil (Lavandula augustifolia), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Chamomile Oil (Anthemis nobilis), Tagetes Oil (Tagetes minuta), Benzoin Resinoid (Styrax benzoin), Lavender Flowers (Lavandula augustifolia), Limonene, Linalool.
The kaolin clay, lavender and rose oil in the product all help deep cleanse your skin, and prevent outbreaks and blackheads forming. The ground almond also has the added benefit of providing exfoliation, meaning this product is effectively a two-in-one!
The Packaging:
Like all Lush skincare products, Angels... is usually sold in a black plastic tub (and if you collect 5 of them you get a free face mask worth about 4 quid so it encourages you to recycle too!). It's convenient and the size is at an estimated 100g per pot (if you consider that you will be only using a small amount each time, it lasts a while, i'd estimate at least 2 months with once a day usage).
The Price:
Angels... retails at £5.42 for 100g, which is slightly pricey compared to the bargain prices of Simple cleansers, but when you consider that the ingredients are all natural and organic, and freshly prepared, you really are getting a bargain. Also as I mentioned previously, the amount you use at a time is so small it works out as pretty good value for money.
The application:
I normally use Angels.... in the shower in the morning - I was recommended to do this by a lady in a Lush shop in Canada so I don't get bits of lavender-y clay all over my bathroom! This is the one solitary downside to Angels... it is somewhat messy. What you do is, take a small amount (probably no more than the size of a marble) and add a little bit of water to it in the palm of your hand. Then you mix it until it becomes a sort of lathery paste. Once this happens you apply it to your face, and gently rub it in circles so the ground almonds can exfoliate your skin. I sometimes leave mine on for a few minutes longer as it is a great mini-face mask - i think the Kaolin clay works better if given time to penetrate your skin.
The smell:
Angels... smells of lavender, and it is really a nice, refreshing, zingy smell in the morning!! It leaves your face smelling slightly of lavender all day, and apparently the lavender essential oils in the product are particularly good for spot prone skin, so it has added benefits.
The Verdict:
I am a huge fan of Lush products, although I find that some things in their skin care range are a little hit-and-miss. But I have purchased Angels... for about 4 years now and I couldn't live without it - it is literally wonderful for your skin!
Summary: Amazing product that really works!
