Advantages: soft skin, nicer smell than some Lush products

Disadvantages: tricky to use at first

On a recent trip to London I came across the Lush store on Regent Street completely by chance. Normally I purchase my Lush products off the website www.lush.co.uk because I live so damn far away from one, so I was excited at the prospect of actually going into a store finally.

When I entered the store I was surprised at the smell. Normally Lush products smell gorgeous but the smell of the shop was not very pleasant, still this didn?t dash my excitement as their products have always performed well for me.

The shop was fairly empty and when I went downstairs I was greeted by a lovely young man who proceeded to show me all the lovely natural hand-made products. To be honest I just wanted to look around at grab all the products I could lay my hands on, but I let him help me as I thought a bit of advice wouldn?t go amiss especially as I usually buy products off the internet.

I am glad I waited as he was incredibly helpful. When he asked me what product I was looking for I didn?t quite know what to say as I already had a small cargo of Lush goods at home but I settled for a cleanser because I hadn?t ever tried a Lush cleanser before.

He recommended Angels on Bare Skin telling me that it is their most popular cleanser and the effect it would have on my skin. When I saw the product I wasn?t keen as it looked fairly awful but I quickly reminded myself of all the other products I had that had worked and that it was all natural goodness anyway.

It looks like a putty with exfoliating bits in it, it actually reminded me off playdough when I saw it but I liked the smell of lavender and the man had convinced me it would work-not that I needed much persuading.

I always get a buzz after buying something for myself and this was no exception, I couldn?t wait to try it. Not surprising really as I am a true fan of Lush stuff.

The instructions say to ?take a pea-sized piece in your hands, smooth it all over damp skin a
nd wash it off? so I did just that. You literally do need just a pea-sized amount as I had plenty to cover my whole face. It feels very smooth with a rather clay-like consistency. It helps to melt it a little in your hands first as well.

After washing it off my skin felt fantastic; very soft and smooth. My skin didn?t look much better at first but after I had been using the product for a few days I felt that a noticeable improvement had been made. My skin looked brighter and refreshed which is good for me as it usually looks weather-beaten and dull, unless I?ve used a Lush face mask on it. It also smells lovely as you massage it on your face with warm water.

Onto the ingredients which the man in the shop had promised me would work so well. I?ll list these first; Ground Almonds (Prunus dulcis), Glycerine, Kaolin, Water (Aqua), Lavender Oil (Lavendula hybrida), Rose Absolute (Rosa centifolia), Lavender Flowers (Lavendula hybrida), Perfume. Well as with all Lush products all of the ingredients are completely natural and work very well.

The ground almonds exfoliate but not in a harsh way so that it rubs your skin raw!, lavender oil helps to balance oil production, kaolin (china clay- so that?s why it has a clay consistency then!) absorbs oils, rose softens your skin and glycerine helps it to absorb and retain moisture. I can honestly say that I believe what they say about this as it has improved the appearance of my skin in a relatively short period of time.

Once you get over the ?interesting? appearance this product works very well and I really enjoy using it. I would recommend it for most skin types but not very dry skin. It can used by women and men- don?t be scared by the flowery smell guys, it really works!

The product lasts for ages as you only need to use a tiny blob each time. It is fairly priced too at £3.70 for 100g or £7.40 for 200g. I went for 100g to be safe in case it didn?t work but I?ll be buying 200g nex
t time. As with most Lush products it has a use by date because all the ingredients are natural.

My only complaint is the packaging. I generally find tubes easier but most of the Lush stuff I used comes in a tub. I find that the lids are quite hard to get off a t first but after you?ve used it a few times and ?worn it in? a bit so to speak it becomes easier. Anyway a complaint about the packaging is hardly a disadvantage when the product works so well. The tub gives you all the information you could want (use by date, ingredients, how to use etc) and serves its purpose well.

Overall a superb product. I?ve tried a lot of skincare brands in the past and I have to say that this is as good as, if not better than, some more expensive brands that I have tried such as Clinique and it?s great to know that it is all natural and suitable for vegetarians.

You can buy it from Lush stores around the country a list of which is on the website www.lush.co.uk or you can buy it on the site itself.

Give it a try guys and girlies you may just be glad you did!

I've not tried this one but I love the scent of almond so it will probably go on my list for next time!

I was tempted by this one but went for 'herbalsim' in the end which is similar but with herbs for that refreshing feel. I'll give this one a go next time.
