Advantages: Left my skin tight and soft, smells great

Disadvantages: Cost, hard to remove

Having tried a few other Lush face masks and facial skin care I had never really favoured them against other products I use. Therefore I tended to stay clear! Also I had never tried cupcake before as they described it as a product for oily and teenage skin, I have neither but I have started to get some spots!!

However I recently went into store to stock up on my other Lush products and they offered me a free pot of cupcake as I had spent £15. I happily agreed to take one and put it to the test.

All Lush facemasks are to be kept in the fridge, as they have no preservatives, however don't panic if like me you forgot to put it in when you got home from shopping and you didn't realise until you raided your Lush bagfull of goodies the next morning. I rang the store to check it would still be ok to use and they said it would be fine. Phew!!

After my morning shower I dried my face and slavered the mask onto my skin it felt very thick and I felt it would of applied easier if I had put it on damp skin. It advises to leave it on for about 5 minutes but being a mum it stayed on until it was positively caked into my skin!! Now it was time to remove. It was very dry at this point and was almost falling off my skin, until I applied the water to remove it... OMG it took forever! It was very difficult to remove and I think in future I would peel it off first before rinsing.

When I finally got it all off and dried my skin it felt lovely my skin felt instantly firmer and very soft. I can't say the appearance inproved and if anything my skintone looked a little more uneven but hopefully this will improve over time of using it and once all the impurities have come out?!

The Cupcake its self is a deep brown chocolate cupcake smelling mask and its very tempting to eat! Although it does contain mud so maybe thats not a great idea! As well as the mud it also contains peppermint oil, I didn't notice the peppermint at all until I was removing the mask and then I got a faint whiff!

The mask it self is quite expensive, the website says £6.45 which is pretty expensive as you can't even just use it on occasion as the mask I was given only lasts one month and I am not sure if thats why they were being given away free or if they usually have a longer life, also Lush used to let you help your self to the amount of face mask you wanted so that it would work out cheaper but unfortunately it now seems they are all pre packaged so you have to shell out for the price of a pot unfortunately.

Summary: A great mask but not worth the cost if it only lasts a month
