Advantages: taste and smell
Disadvantages: pricey
I love the fresh face masks at Lush, they are the first thing I rush to when I walk in. Usually in the centre of the shop, sitting on a bed of ice in a big tower, they are captivating on the eye. The only drawback with these is that they are fresh masks and that means they don't last as long as other Lush products.
The Cupcake mask is designed to keep skin soft, help with spot breakouts and sooth sensitive skin. Sounded good my skin, so I gave it a go. I usually use Ayesha and have had great results with Ayesha, thanks to the tightening properties.
Cupcake comes in a small black tub with a screw top lid. Lush are currently doing a 'bring back five empty pots and get a free fresh mask' which is a great idea! You have to store it in the fridge, this prolongs the longevity of the mask. They last for about two weeks from new.
Texture:
It is quite thick, rather like the icing on a chocolate cake, you know when you used to lick the icing bowl out before the cake was cooked? That will give you an idea of the wondeful thick sticky texture.
Application:
I cover the whole face, except the eyes and also do the neck as well. I usually leave the masks on for about fifteen minutes or until they have gone really stiff and you can no longer move any muscle on the face! Weird yet effective! You should apply a thin layer, as too much will mean you run out of the stuff quicker than you know it. The smell is also mmm so choco-licious!
Rinse well with warm water then blot the skin dry. It can take a few minutes to remove totally. I was pleased with the after effects. My skin felt awfully smooth and the cupcake moisture had been absorbed very well. It obviously does not combat spots straight away, but used a couple of times a week, the mask will help minimise spots appearing and keep the skin soothed.
Key ingredients are Rhassoul Mud which is absorbing all those dirty bits and fresh mint to give your skin a tingly clean zest. At about £5.00 a pot, it is worth checking out.
Summary: mmmmm
