Advantages: Soothes itchy irritable skin. Lasts ages. A little goes a long way.
Disadvantages: Not as gorgeous smelling as other Lush products.
One of the best things I have ever had from Lush is the totally amazing, astonishing and wonderful Dream Cream.
Now you may be sitting there wondering why I am singing it’s praises so much, because let’s face it this isn’t the most wonderfully scented cream, like most of Lush products are. No, my friends this cream really is a dream come true.
If you have sore dried skin then this is the product for you. It’s infusion of rose water, lavender oil and chamomile along with cocoa butter and tea tree oil makes this a very soothing cream indeed. It doesn’t smell that heavenly despite these ingredients, the main smell I can detect is the chamomile but it’s not a nasty niff either, I actually quite like it as isn’t so strong that it masks other perfumes.
I have mild eczema on my elbows and behind my knees and get really itchy dry and irritable at certain times and this can be incredibly frustrating for me when using lotions, as some can really just make it worse. I’ve had prescription steroid creams from my doctor which were meant to help but really didn’t make any difference for me. So on my last visit to Lush I was looking at body lotions and spotted a nice pot of Karma Kream which had a wonderful scent….but also mentioned to the assistant that I had patches of eczema so would probably have to put off using it properly until these had cleared….she recommended Dream Cream to me, and showed me a small 10g tin about the size of a lip balm tin, which contained a sample of the Dream Cream and only cost £1. I thought this was super as I wouldn’t have to waste a lot of money if it didn’t work. That’s not the best news though, she then told me that if I liked the cream I could return the small empty tin (cleaned) and claim £1 off the price of the full size…so in the end it really was a free sample (unless you decide that it doesn’t work for you) I bought this cream 3 weeks ago and have been using it on my elbows and knees and even on the areas of my face which are prone to getting quite dry in this changing weather and I have to say I am absolutely thrilled with the results.
When I bought the cream my elbows were red, itchy and quite scaly looking (sorry if your eating) and the prescription steroid cream was doing nothing for me, neither was my usual E45 cream…..so twice a day I smoothed a little of the cream onto my problem area and I swear that within a week my elbows were totally clear of any scaly skin and the itch was gone within a couple of days. I now use this cream once daily to keep it looking that way. I didn’t think that tiny little sample would last me a week let alone 3 weeks, and I still have a good bit left in the pot! You really only need a tiny amount to make it work. I estimate that I will probably be returning to Lush in about a week or 2 at most to get the full size version so on the premise that 10g has lasted me around 5 weeks or so I’d say that the price of £8.75 for 240g (also take into account £1 off for returning the sample pot) so will only be £7.75…this should last me ages!
Now this cream doesn’t claim to be made for eczema or other skin complaints but on the advice of a few staff members I am told that they do sell a lot of it to customers with eczema, psoriasis etc. It is also apparently very good at soothing sunburn or applying to those itchy chicken pox spots….but I cannot comment on those as have note had to use it for either.
So to sum it up, it really does soothe the itching and leaves skin feeling wonderfully soft and moisturised, a thing which my elbows haven’t been in a long time, as the eczema has always left them feeling quite dry even when not flared up.
After the good results on my elbow I used it on my face and am pretty sure that I’ve had less spots since as well, and when I apply my mousse foundation I don’t get that tell tale dryness across my forehead that I did before so is a good base for makeup too.
If you ever suffer from dry, itchy, sore skin or redness etc then this is one product I would wholly recommend, you’ll wonder why you never did before. Even if you are not a Lush fan you will love this cream.
Thanks for reading

(PS the title is a shameless attempt at getting Halloween into it ;-))
