Advantages: Smells lovely, refreshing, non-drying to the skin
Disadvantages: does not improve tone of the skin very much
Eau Roma Water is the third of the Lush toners I have tried. I had fairly good results from the first two - Breath of Fresh Air and Tea Tree Water, so I had high hopes for this. I was especially looked forward to it, as it says it is suitable for 'dry to normal' skin. My skin seems to alternate between being dry and being 'normal', so I thought this would be perfect for me.
The toner like the other Lush products comes in a black bottle with a spray pump. I do sometimes think that the spray is a little bit annoying, because when spraying this onto cotton wool, I sometimes feel that some of this is wasted. You can of course use this as a facial spray, but again, it's not too good, as it uses a manual pump spray rather than a aerosol, so the mist is not as fine, and you can find the toner dripping from your face.
Anyway to use this, you just wipe over the skin like you would with any other toner. It has a pleasant, yet very gentle floral scent. This contains lavender and rose water, and I would say the scent is more lavender than rose. I am not a huge fan of lavender, but this is such a gentle, watered down sort of a lavender scent that it doesn't particularly bother me, and I actually quite like the smell of this product.
As for effects on the skin, the first thing I noticed was that this really cools the skin. I like my bath water to be really hot (I'm told this is a typical woman thing?) and sometimes when I get out, my skin stays feeling hot for ages. I've found that if I wipe this over my skin, it instantly cools and refreshes it.
I find that this is really good for my dry skin - a lot of toners dry the skin out, however this one, although I wouldn't necessarily say it adds moisture, it doesn't dry my skin further. Also if you have used something on your face that makes your skin feel tight, such as soap, this seems to help quite a lot, and for me gets rid of the dryness.
The toner is good at getting rid of any excess cleanser which has been left on my skin as well as make-up the cleanser has left behind. Unfortunately like the Tea Tree Water I didn't feel that this actually did anything to improve the tone of my skin, but for me the most important thing is to remove any left over cleanser/make-up, so that doesn't bother me very well.
This product is available in two sizes -
100g bottle - £3.10
250g bottle - £6.21
Both are available from Lush stores or online at www.lush.co.uk
Overall, I am quite pleased with this toner and would use it again. It smells nice, is very refreshing and cooling, and does not dry out my dry skin further. Recommended!
Summary: A lovely fresh toner, perfect for dry skin
