Advantages: Great moisturiser

Disadvantages: Expensive

I am always on the hunt for a new moisturiser for my face, despite being in love with Dream Cream as it's coming to the Summer I don't want a heavy moisturiser, I need something light that won't make my skin feel heavy and in the summer some moisturisers have a tendancy to be a bit greasy.

I had read about Gorgeous several times but never took the plunge and purchased it. Sure, it sounded amazing, but nearly £35.00? For a facial moisturiser? So, I tried another LUSH moisturizer that was a bit less expensive. While I liked it I did have some issues with it, so, technically I was still on the look out. So I eventually took the plunge and ordered online along with a few other goodies. Fortunately I had a 10% discount voucher from a gift box so that softened the blow somewha!

When my little box of goodness arrived I immediately took out the tub of Gorgeous and investigated. I took a generous sniff and knew it was love. Wow, the scent! The scent is absolutely incredible. It's fruit and citrus without being overpoweringly so. I want a perfume, lotion, shampoo and body wash in this scent!! Gorgeous is the lightest moisturiser that Lush currently sells; it's also the most expensive at £33+ per pot, owed to its containing so many cold-pressed oils. It's certainly fair enough that by way of ingredient quality Gorgeous is worth the cost to the manufacturer, but what about to the customer by way of effectiveness? First, let's look at what is generally the first noticed trait; fragrance.

Gorgeous is supposed to possess a primary fragrance of orange flower and euphoria-inducing citrus neroli oil. However, this lovely scent is generally overpowered by the supreme quality of cold-pressed olive, avocado, and wheatgerm oil -- all of which can strike you as a guacamole and nachos which is not so good, that, and despite the lovely, light, fresh consistency of this moisturiser, that smell alone can be enough to put you off the idea of wearing it for an entire day and/or night. I don't particuarly want to spend the day smelling of mexican snacks!

As for effects on the skin, Gorgeous is one of few Lush moisturisers that actually is "good for all skin types", just as they claim. The key to Gorgeous is how much you apply, with dry skin applying this cream as they would any other, and oily skin needing to apply just the tiniest trace amount. (For severely oily skin, you might wish to avoid applying it to your nose -this is the only portion of an oily t-zone that I've noticed can get greasy with Gorgeous.) I have quite dry and sensitive skin and even though it's so easy to apply and my skin absorbed the cream within seconds, my skin still felt like it needed something else, like it was still needing some more moisture.

Yes Gorgeous is incredibly light and soft to the touch and I was pleased my skin didn't find the cream irritating whatsoever and like I said before my skin absorbed this easily. But the scent was my main problem. Am I the only person who seems to think like this about Gorgeous as I've read plenty of wonderful comments about it! Maybe I got a bad batch!!!

No matter your skin type, Gorgeous instantly provides a healthy glow to your complexion, yet it really doesn't give your skin a noticeably soft, smooth texture (which is something the lesser-priced Almond Kisses excels at, especially when applied to drier skin.) So back to the original question: is Gorgeous worth the cost from a consumer's perspective? The answer is that I would be far more enthusiastic about recommending the aforementioned Almond Kisses for dry to normal skin, and a decent oil-free moisturiaer (like Clarins' Hydra-Matte) for combination to oily skin, all of which can be purchased for half the price of a pot of Gorgeous.

However because I'm not one to waste! I carried on using Gorgeous at night until I ran out, which did take me quite a while!! After months of using Gorgeous and not experiencing a single dry patch breakout I knew I had judged this product too soon. My pores didn't suffer clogging and I didn't experience an eruption of blackheads. And in all fairness my skin looks radiant and healthy. However I certainly won't be buying another pot as Dream Cream and Almond Kisses still do a great job for my skin and at a lot less cost!!

What Lush says:-

Makes all skin types feel light, carefree and happy.
For a light touch, what you want is Gorgeous. Its magical ability to melt into your skin is unmatched, bringing with it six gorgeous organic oils and butters, the finest we can get our hands on. (After all, the original version was developed by Mark specially for Diana, Princess of Wales.) It works because the lovely emollient oils are combined with fresh fruit to give you a soft, matte feeling, perfect for daytime. It adapts itself to suit every kind of skin; every single one of us at Lush loves it to bits (especially the men).

Gorgeous moisturiser will set you back a hefty £34.26 per pot!! Yes, there is no typo! A hefty price tag for a light moisturiser which may work for some but not for others. Choose carefully folks!

Summary: Maybe not ideal for everyone
