Have you ever stopped to think how many chemicals you expose your skin to on a daily basis - and just in the name of keeping clean? It's quite terrifying (and not in a fun Halloween-scary way)! Some are unavoidable (I'm told chemical-free shampoos are pretty useless, even versions from my precious Lush), but after a spot (!) of inspiration a few months back I decided to see if/where it was practical to use more natural alternatives. I confess - I've managed all of one success: Lush's facial cleanser, Herbalism. But what a success! :) Appropriately for a natural product, Herbalism is green. Green greenness! Open your usual Lush low-packaging plastic pot and ... Read the complete review

The Look Like most of Lush's range of skincare products, Herbalism comes in an ugly, squat black plastic pot, with horrible fake handwriting on it that makes it look like a market trader scrawled all over your bathroom cabinet. On the upside, the advantage of the simple packaging is that it can be returned to the shop for recycling - so full marks for eco-friendliness! Inside the packaging is a solid yet slightly wet green putty with darker flakes in it. It somewhat resembles a tub of gone-off pesto. It smells fresh, however, of mint and rosemary with a slight saltiness to it. Usage To use, you simply wet your face, scoop ... Read the complete review

Oh before you all run at the site of this cleanser i just want to say it doesnt really look that bad in the bot, much more vivid green and like a thick gooey paste..sometimes a bit grainy too depending how long since manufacture and who it was made by... Like many people i was sceptical about herbs and such helping me cure my acne and oily skin problems.. however having exhausted the big brand stuff everything from clinique to clearasil i finally wondered into a lush shop..were by the way the service is absolutely fabulous any lush shop anywhere in the world! I first discovered Lush in india ironically.. later I found out it was actually an english ... Read the complete review

After using Angels on Bare Skin (of which I really enjoyed) I decided to buy another similar Lush product called herbalism (the reason why it's called herbalism is that it's green and full of herbs!!). I liked the description it had even though it was for oily skin, but I sometimes find with these "typed" products that they actually suit other skin types. I have to say when I bought my pot in Lush I wasn't best pleased with what I saw! Yes it's green but looks like it's just landed on the floor in a forest! However I was not going to be put off! It has a strong herbal scent as soon as you open the pot and the texture is quite crumbly and rather dry. ... Read the complete review

What is it?: ++++++++ This is a cleanser in a more solid form than you may have come to expect (unless you’re a regular at Lush, where after a while you come to expect the unexpected). It contains ground almonds and rice bran to exfoliate, kaolin to absorb excess oil and lot of herbal ingredients such as powdered chamomile and rose petals. And guess what?! It is specifically designed for greasy/combinations skin (which is exactly what I have, with some spots chucked in for good measure). The Look/First Impressions: +++++++ This definitely wouldn’t win any awards for it’s good looks, but I wouldn’t let that put you off. It’s quite a ... Read the complete review
