Advantages: divine smell, exfoliating + cleansing
Disadvantages: a bit drying
Oh before you all run at the site of this cleanser i just want to say it doesnt really look that bad in the bot, much more vivid green and like a thick gooey paste..sometimes a bit grainy too depending how long since manufacture and who it was made by...
Like many people i was sceptical about herbs and such helping me cure my acne and oily skin problems.. however having exhausted the big brand stuff everything from clinique to clearasil i finally wondered into a lush shop..were by the way the service is absolutely fabulous any lush shop anywhere in the world!
I first discovered Lush in india ironically.. later I found out it was actually an english company and the small batches sold in india or sold at twice the price than here in the UK?!! At 100ml's you pay 550 ruppee's equivalent to about 8 pounds but in london I was able to buy this for around 4 pounds..
As far as packaging goes.. well lush are honest about their lack of fancy and pretty packaging and emphasise the fact that their pots are made from 100% recycled plastic.. I don't know about you but thats good news to me! the cleansers doesn;t
already come prepackaged in the pots but rather they fill a pot in for you with your
chosen cleanser.. i went a little crazy and bought three.. herbalism, aqua marina and angels on bare skin.. they all just sounded sooo inviting, what can i say??
Back to herbalism, the main ingredients are ground almonds and rice bran for exfoliating, glycerin which moisturises and kaolin - a cleansing clay often used
in facial masks. It also contains a number of essential oils such as camomile and rose and herbs such as nettle, sage and rosemary..... hence the verrry herbal smell and the name. While some don't like the smell... I simply can't get enough of this...
it smells very herbal and wild forest flowers and still very fresh. I love using this cleanser at night so i can smell the herbal smell to sleep!
like all lush cleansers it is a little odd to use.. first you have to wet face and hands then massage about a 10pence worth of cleanser between your hands with more
water to create a light green grainy paste, which you then massage onto your face. As you massage your face you can feel the crushed almonds and rice bran gently buffing your skin and once rinsed clean leaves skin feeling smooth and nourished and not at all dry. It works well with tea tree toning water and vanishing cream although iv used it with other toners and creams and its worked just fine. while this is a bit of a fussy cleanser I wouldn't mind repurchasing... i prefer a quick wash and moisture routne in the morning but use my lush cleansers at night. The high glycercine content makes this cleanser really moisturising too and its supposed to be good for oily/comination skin prone to breakout...
it did help with my breakouts somewhat without stripping the skn one bit..the gentle exfoliators in the cleanser also helped reducing acne scarring.. or maybe thats the rose oil??
Summary: delicious smell of herbs and essential oils, works well for acneic skin and oily skin
