Advantages: Great moisturiser, easily absorbed, natural product

Disadvantages: Bit pricey

I have been using Nivea on my face for as long as I can remember - my Mum does it too so I probably piked it up from her. To be honest I like my skin to feel soft, but I found the Nivea was making it more and more greasy, especially round my T-zone ( Nose and forehead) and I was starting to get spots, something I thought I had left behind when I finished puberty!

I love Lush, and the products they sell are a staple in my house, however I have actually never tried any of thier face moisturisers before as they are a little out of my price range. However as I had some vouchers for my birthday I decided to give Imperialis a go, as it says its for combination skin, and it had good reviews on the website (also because it was one of the cheapest and if I didnt like it I wouldnt be kicking myself for spending too much).

The Lush website tells me that the lavendar in it will help my skin because if its greasy it will stop it producing more oils, but it will get my skin to produce more if its dry. It also has Olive oil and Shea butter high up on the list of ingredients, which I know are both very good moisturisers.

It comes in one of the little black tubs with a screw lid that all the lotions and potions come in at Lush, its actually a 45g tub, for this I pay £10.48 so I am hoping that its worth it.

Because the main ingredient is Lavender Infusion I expected it to be purple, and it smell like lavender. Infact I am quite surprised it has a brown tinge to it, and it reminds me of tinted moisturiser (which it isnt by the way!) The smell is not unplesant, but it doesnt jump out as a fabulous smell like other products I have tried from Lush. Infact its a bit non-descript to be honest, the smell it has does linger for a while when you have used the product. It smells like a natural smell rather than a synthetic one.

It is quite a thin cream, but that means its very easily absorbed and I dont need to use alot of it. When I have applied Imperialis my skin feels soft, but not greasy or shiny like it did when I used my Nivea. The softness lasts most if the day so I am not having to reapply it alot, and do feel my skins condition has improved. The spots are gone and it doesnt feel oily.

Despite the high price tag, I am not using alot of it each time, so I think it will last quite a while. I would warn other who use it though not to take the top of the pot off with much vigour, as I have lost some of the cream when I have taken the lid off too quickly.

As with all Lush products, all the ingredients are fresh and natural, and none of them are tested on animals - the ingredients are listed as;

Lavender Flower Infusion (Lavandula angustifolia), Mullein Leaf Infusion (Verbascum thapsus), Orange Blossom Water (Citrus Aurantium dulcis), Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Olea europaea), Stearic Acid, Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii), Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Glycerine, Cetearyl Alcohol, Orange Flower Absolute (Citrus Aurantium dulcis), Brunello Lily Petals (Lilium Asiatic 'Brunello'), St Johns Wort Extract (Hypericum perforatum), Elderflower Extract (Sambucus nigra), Sweet Violet Extract (Viola odorata), Sunflower Petal Extract (Helianthus annuus), Alkanet Extract (Alkanna tinctoria), Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, Propylparaben}

In conclusion I would say that its probably the best mouisturiser I have ever used and despite the fact the smell is not a 'wow' smell I will be buying it again

Summary: Its worth a try!

St Johns Wort? Thats a bit of an odd ingrediant for a moisturiser!
