Sweet and Sexy (Lush Keep it Fluffy)

Keep It Fluffy was for a few months a guest soap from the sister company B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful - a kind of replacement for the B Electro soap (though they were both available from Lush for quite a while).

This guest soaps are an excellent opportunity to try so B Never products as they are significantly cheaper when bough by weight from Lush then when bought ready-packaged from B.

Keep It Fluffy retails at around £3.50/100g which is pretty average for their more interesting soaps (I will not mention Temptation or Icon here!) and much cheaper than 80g prepackaged bars around a fiver from B.

This soap is part of a big B range under the same name, which, according to B is supposed to be "really, really girly (...) a fragrance to wear when you're tired of playing games and just want to be relaxed and feminine (...) a wonderfully smooth, comfy fragrance (...) smooth, natural, sophisticated vanilla and rose absolutes compliment the subtle musk base."

I have had KIF bubble bars before and loved them - and I am not a very girly girl at all. Lush and family have a talent for creating sweet and feminine products that are actually quite pleasant rather than sickly and this fragrance is one of them. Thus, I was quite excited to use the KIF soap which appeared in Lush range just before Christmas.

The soap used to be a pale opaque pink, very much like Rock Star (but obviously with a different scent) but later on it came mostly in semi-transparent dark pink, more like the base for Angels' Delight (the pink parts, not the purple ones, and without the bits).

The smell is very similar to the KIF bubble bar, but not exactly the same, there is some subtle difference and I am not certain whether I like it - it's quite a sharp and a bit artificial. I think it might be the lemongrass as it's higher on the ingredient list in the soap than in the bubble bar.

Still, this is not very strong and overall it's still a very nice fragrance, sweet and floral, but by no means sickly. I think it's a sexier smell than Lush imply it to be (but then I find jasmine very sexy and in combination with Ylang-Ylang even more so); the sweetness of vanilla is not overpowering at all, and it all works out very well.

It lathers easily but not too much - this is one thing I like about Lush soaps (and shampoos and shower gloops too), they don't produce too much foam but they clean very well.

However, and this is not a normal thing for Lush soaps in my experience, it does dry out skin on my hands a bit (not on the rest of the body, though). I still have a piece for hand washing, so it's not a big deal but could be better as most other Lush soap is.

The fragrance stays on for a while - Karma it ain't but there is a bit of staying power.

All in all, nice soap and a great fragrance but it's better in the bubble bar format (if only it was cheaper!).

I post ingredient lists for cosmetics now as I tend to always read those for all bath and cream products I buy (and it has NOTHING to do with allergies as I am not allergic to anything that's used in cosmetics). There are two reasons:

(1) Lush take products off their website (this is not available now) but there is thriving eBay market in Lush (I hesitate to call it second hand) so you can possibly get some this way.
(2) I like to know what exactly essential oils are included so other people might also want to know .

Summary: the bubble bar is better, but this is much more affordable
