Advantages: Lovely smell

Disadvantages: A bit drying

I'm a sucker for all things Lush and on my last trip to Edinburgh had to visit. The sneaky marketing people in Lush put their lip balms by the till so you can't avoid them and one sniff of the Let Them Eat Cake lip balm had me entranced and I simply had to have one.

It smells like the most delicious cake you have ever tasted, I can really smell the black treacle which gives it a really warm comforting smell but the smell of the citrus and alcohol comes through too making it smell like freshly baked christmas cake. The smell is so strong that even when it is sealed into its tin that it overpowered the smell of all my other lush purchases that day and my whole bag came home smelling of cake.

The lip balm itself is contained in a small silver tin with a screw on lid which looks much nicer than other lip balms. The tin itself is fairly sturdy but has been dented a bit by being thrown about in my bag.

The lip balm is a slightly off white to yellow colour and is really soft and silky to the touch. It feels slightly greasy when you apply it to your lips but goes on nice and smoothly. The lip balm is absorbed really quickly, my lips looks lovely and shiny when I use this but they actually feel slightly dried out so it wouldn't be much use for chapped lips.

Like all lush products, the lip balm contins lots of lovely natural products. Included in this little tin are organic olive oil, lemon and lime oil, sherry and vanilla absolute. These combine to give the lovely smell and when you lick your lips you can really taste the sherry. The product is suitable for vegans and as it is from Lush then you know it's not tested on animals and has been produced in an environmentally friendly way.

At £4.40 for a tiny tin then it is expensive compared to other lip balms out there. I love the smell but the fact it was a bit drying spoils it a bit. One for a treat but not one I'll rush out and buy again.

Summary: A christmassy lip balm
