Advantages: Get drunk on lip balm?

Disadvantages: Far too overpowering a scent for lip balm

I recieved this lip balm in a Christmas LUSH gift pack. I am a sucker for lip balm and was excited to try this one, especially as LUSH's original lip balm is one of my favourites.

Well when you open this little tin (which is a bit fiddly by the way, I much preferred their glass pot packaging for the lip balms), you are hit with a heavy dose of fragrance. You'd be forgiven for thinking this is one of their solid perfumes, it is that strong.

It is called Let Them Eat Cake, boozy fruit cake being what they are going for, and you definitely get that in spades. It contains "oranges and lemons, currants and sultanas, vanilla, sherry and treacle." You defintely smell the ingredients, the citrus and sweet sherry elements being the strongest. It doesn't seem to be available on LUSH's website anymore so not sure if they are bringing it back next Christmas or not -I'll bet you can still find it in the sales though.

The fragrance for me was overwhelming and actually made me gag a bit, especially as you inadvertently will get a taste of it and it did made me hack. It permeates the air and floats up your nostrils the whole time you have it on, for me it was just too much. I might have actually liked it as a shower gel as the boozy fruit smell is nice enough, just not in a constant jetstream up my nose!

It didn't feel nearly as moisturising as their unscented lip balms, not as creamy in texture, it has more of a Carmex-type consistency, except maybe thinner/ more oily feeling. I only used it a couple of times, then I gave it to a friend who likes anything LUSH.

So I'll give this one a miss if they bring it back next year, but anyone looking for a taste of sherry in their lip balm might fancy it!

Summary: Overbearing lip balm with a heavyweight punch
