Advantages: GORGEOUS smell and makes your lips lovely and soft!
Disadvantages: Small fiddly tub which can get lost in your handbag.
I'm always forgetful when it comes to remembering to apply my lip balms. I always seem to just end up collecting them in my hand bag and forgetting about them. This is probably why I often end up with dry lips!
However this Lush lip balm is one I don't forget, and often sits on my desk at work. But what's so special about this one?
This Lip Balm has the name of 'Let Them Eat Cake' and was part of Lush's Christmas range. This makes it hard to get during the year (unless you hunt on eBay!). I got this lip balm in a £5 grabbit bag, with a ton of other Lush products. Not bad considering this lip balm costs over £4! The Use By date isn't until December this year so there's plenty of time left yet.
This lip balm is supposed to smell of Christmas Cake, and wow what a wonderful smell it is! Just take a look at these ingredients:
Organic Olive Oil, Currant, Sultana and Raisin Infusion, Fresh Lemon and Fresh Orange peel Infusion and Shea Butter. There's more! The Flavours used in this product are Sherry, Vanilla, Lemon Oil, Lime Oil and Organic Black Treacle. As you can imagine this truly does smell of cake and combined with the olive oil and shea butter, also makes a great moisturising lip balm. Oh and it's also Vegan!
The lip balm itself is in a tiny silver 10g screw top metal tin. With it being so smell the screw lid can get a bit fiddly, but Lush try to not over do any packaging so I'm not too fussed about the plain design of it. Because it's so small it will fit into all handbags, but you will probably lose it in larger ones! It's small enough to fit in a trouser pocket too.
I usually apply this balm using my finger and smoothing it across my lips, you could also use a lip brush but if you're using this on-the-go then a finger does the job well. The colour of it reminds me alot of Vaseline and it smooths on just as well.
The balm makes your lips lovely and soft, remember this isn't a gloss so don't expect brilliantly shiny lips, but it does leave them feeling smooth and moisturised. You can smell the product on your lips too, so refrain yourself from licking it off! I like to apply this 2-3 times a day and I do so mainly because of the lovely smell, the excellent job it does of moisturising is just a bonus to me. It makes your lips feel lovely and soft for hours after use, and after using this each day I no longer have dry lips.
I've been using this for around a month now and it barely looks as though any has gone from the pot so this is going to last me a long time yet.
I highly recommend this, even if like me you don't often use lip balms, as this one smells so wonderful you won't forget to use it again!
Summary: Moisturises, softens and smells great, a brilliant lip balm.

- 25/02/09 I hated the smell of this, which is a shame as I now have one that I don't want (from a gift) so may end up swapping it on the forum or selling it! |
