Advantages: It's Vegan

Disadvantages: It tastes/smells/feels horrible!

This lip balm is not on sale anymore as it was only available at christmas. However, I thought i'd add my thoughts as it might be back next year! I remember there being a lot of excitement when this lipbalm was announced that it was going to be released. For a start, it is vegan. There are not many lush lip balms which are so this excited many vegan lushies. Secondly the description. Here is the description from The Lush Times, Christmas 2008:

"Orange and lemons, currants and sultanas, vanilla, sherry and treacle. This must be the tastiest lip balm on the planet. At Lush we have quite a lot of vegans working for us, that's the people who won't eat or use any animal products at all. As you can imagine it can be quite tricky for vegans to find lovely products but at Lush and B it's quite easy. That's except in the lip balm department, where all our 2008 products were vegetarian but not vegan. Our vegans also have a great fondness for cake; Sean's non-cheesecake is the current favourite. So when Helen and Noriko blended out new vegan lip balm base, Helen decided to make it cake flavoured. We would use that old saying about killing two birds with one stone, but that really upsets the Lush vegans so we won't."

So, from that you can probably see the excitement. It sounds really yummy as it is cake flavoured. Sorry to disappoint but I hated the flavour of this. I don't know what this tastes like but it is revolting! Secondly, the smell was described as "Orange and lemons, currants and sultanas, vanilla, sherry and treacle". The only thing I could smell was Sherry. It smelt horrible, like a hangover on boxing day! I also hated the texture of this lipbalm. It was just really greasy and generally unpleasant.

The lipbalm obviously wasnt a best seller as I received 3 in grab bags in January. At £4.50 for that horrible lipbalm, I am not surprised. However, if you do like the sound of it, there are plenty around on ebay etc. I have one up for sale myself!

Summary: I wouldn't recommend this to anybody!

hi billiesue
this is certainly a truthful review from the heart! I love the scent of Let Them Eat Cake myself - and so do my friends judging by the comments when I take it out of my bag! I agree the texture isn't the best. Very light and oily and doesn't last long on the lips. Maybe I should write my own review!
