Face masks are sometimes a bit of a luxury - they're not always cheap to buy and if you use them liberally, they don't last that long either. When I look for a mask I look for quality, value for money, quantity and shelf life. I've used many masks in the past and have only found a couple of really good ones, but even those I felt were not giving me value for money. You know the type, the sachets for £1.99, or the small tubs for around £6. I was looking for something that was simple. Natural and simple. After having tried a mask from Lush before I have since vowed not to part with that much money again. However, they do have one face mask which is not as ... Read the complete review

Is it ok for a modern guy to write about face masks? I hope so? I?ve long resisted the many Lush opinions on Dooyoo. Actually, truth be told, I didn?t find it too hard being a bloke - and the over-powering smell every time I walked past the new(ish) Lush shop on Oxford?s Cornmarket Street didn?t do much to entice me in. Emily though was an instant convert - although not familiar with Lush from the US (her nearest is Chicago), she used to work in Body Shop, and she said she could tell this was good stuff before she tried it - buying bath bombs, face masks and who knows what other ... Lush do a fantastic range of fresh face masks. They need to be used up within 2-3 weeks because there are no preservatives or nasties in them, and there is a type to suit everyone. However the major downside for me is that they are priced at £4.95 for a 75g pot if you buy in store, or £6.45 online (as they need to be sent in special packaging to keep them cold and fresh). This makes them very much so an occasional treat for me- as much as I would love to, I couldn't afford to buy one every fortnight! Therefore when an assistant mentioned Mask of Magnaminty to me- a face mask with a longer shelf life- at least 3 months- and significantly cheaper at ... Read the complete review

Mask of Magnaminty was a bit of an impulse buy for me from Lush. I usually opt for one of their 'fresh' face masks which need to be kept in the fridge, however this one isn't from their fresh range and I decided to give it a go. This face mask is nicknamed the 'big green giant' by Lush, and it truly lives up to that nickname as when you open the lid you will be surprised at just how green this mask really is, and once it's applied to your face, you really do look like a big green giant! Lush state that this one is a deeply cleansing, toning and exfoliating peppermint mask, which will refreshen and brighten all it touches. It's certainly safe to ... Read the complete review

It's £7 for the big tub of this lovely green mask, and considering how versatile it is it's money well spent. The main purpose is as a face mask for oily, teenage or problem skins (I started using this more than ten years ago when I was but a spotty oik), and it's fascinating in a slightly horrible sort of way to sit and watch the texture of the mask change as it sucks the oil from the pores of your face. Similar use can be made on the chest and back, where it clears the skin of spots and a build up of oil and leaves it clean, clear and fresh. It can be a bit harsh on the delicate skin of the decolletage, so best not to use before a night out unless red and ... Read the complete review
