Advantages: Natural, extremely beneficial for the skin on face and body

Disadvantages: 4 month shelf life

I have been using both face masks and Lush products for many years now- prior to this I was a real high street girl and was happy to settle for sachets/99p tubes/samples(!) of other cheaper brand face masks. I used to have no knowledge of skincare; the ingredients used and the effects they could have upon one's skin- until I attended basic training as an aromatherapist. This both scared me and enlightened me- to think what utter rubbish I had been applying to my combination skin all these years...so I immediately did my homework on my Lush products and hey presto- the most natural, soothing and beneficial ingredients you can get your hands on.

The use of the word 'natural' is one that is grossly over- used in the cosmetics industry, however, companies such as Lush can use this word with honesty and pride. Never before Mask of Magnaminty had I experienced the true effects of genuinely natural ingredients; honey, kaolin, tea tree oil, aduki beans, peppermint and vanilla essential oils, to name but a few. These stunning ingredients have a profound effect on the skin on both the face and the body; the kaolin base means the mask sets to a hardened clay, drawing out oils and dirt, the aduki beans gently exfoliate, and the rest soothe redness and inflammation and calm spots.

The four month shelf life is more than enough time to use the product up; it comes in 2 sizes (100g and 250g) and is surprisingly cheap IMO. You only need a thin layer so one tub lasts me around 1 to 2 motnhs, if I use MoM as a twice-weekly treatment.

Your skin will be left glowing, softened and soothed after only 10 minutes of setting time. I personally find it works better on dry/slightly damp skin; it definitely sets better in this way than on wet skin. It is fab on backs and on feet wrapped in clingfilm and left to set for 20 minutes or so!!

Lush's ingredients list can be found on their website; they also state where they source their ingredients and why they are used. They are completely honest about their use of preservatives and sulphates; no other company is as transparent as this and I really respect that in Lush as a business, as well as their green, against-animal-testing and eco- friendly approach.

In conclusion, MoM is only one of Lush's beautiful skincare range, and really is an excellent value, long lasting, natural product.
