Advantages: Silky texture, vegan, luxury
Disadvantages: 'toenails'
I received this as a birthday present from my daughter. She often gets me a little Lush something-or-other because she correctly gauges that I do not go into the shop much - but I like the stuff in the shop.
I expect that I am not unlike many other mothers who have put some self indulgence on the backburner - choosing instead to buy the 40p vegetable based supermarket soap rather than the deliciously fragranced and interesting looking chunk of the beautiful Lush soap. My concerns are primarily with the mortgage. I think about it and feel a bit sad sometimes.
This is why I love it when my daughter buys me some Lush soap. It is an act of seeing through my thrifty ways and giving me a piece of love (her love/self love).
Appearance
---------------
The soap is a deep velvety purple-blue. One side of it has some dried (rose) petals encased in the surface layer. Otherwise it is smooth and silky to touch.
Ingredients
---------------
This soap is a vegan soap. It inclues the fragrances of lavender, honeysuckle, grape and thyme.
Using the Soap
-------------------
I enjoy the moment when I have a deep, leisurely bath and use the Lush product . The soap does not lather in a frothy rabies-like manner but produces some sparse bubbles. The feel of the soap as you rub it on your skin is more creamy. It is more like a moisturiser texture. I find this quite pleasant. I usually have a little bit of bubble bath in the tub anyway - and regular soap can sometimes pop all of the bubbles that you have in there anyway.
When in the water, some of the petals are released. They have the appearance of the toenails of ancient persons as they swirl about in the tub. This amuses me a little. The soap also can leave a purple residue on the side of the bath - but this easily rinses off.
Using this soap, is definately a luxury experience. as it lathers, you can smell the subtle and sophisticated scents being released. The lavender is not an overpowering smell, it is somewhat muted by the honeysuckle essence and the more 'savoury' twang of thyme which makes bathing with it very enjoyable. When dried, I found my skin had a delicate frangrance and felt soft and clean - but not 'squeaky'.
Price
------
I believe the soap costs around £3.50 for 100g. Whenever I ask my daughter how much the Lush products she buys me are, she just tells me 'expensive'. I like this. It makes a welcome change from the budget buy supermarket soap.
To Conclude
---------------
I think that Lush soap is among the most lovely soaps that you can buy and use. It is expensive - but it does not disappear quickly - so you have it around for a while.
Summary: A slice of luxury in a budget-buy world
