Advantages: Soft and moisturises well

Disadvantages: Not available in the UK

I love Lush moisturisers and there are just so many! Ones for dry skin, for normal skin, combination skin and for all other types of skin so it seems!! Lush have a tendancy to create a great product for all skin types which alot of other companies don't do, they create a moisturiser which they "think" will suit everyone where infact it doesn't. So for me paying a bit more for Lush means alot to me.

Ooops...Almond Kisses unfortunately it isn't available in the UK to my knowledge, it's only available in the USA and Austrailia so I know. I bought my tub a few years ago back in the States whilst on a family holiday and well before all the restrictions on the liquids you could take on a plane with you.

First, allow me to give you a bit of history about "Oops! Almond Kisses". Lush had wanted to make one lotion with the fragrance of marzipan much like their Christmas limited edition Marzibain bubble bar (which is now a permenant item) and Snowcake soap. So, they tried the fragrance with both an almond based facial moisturiser and a hand lotion and decided which should be granted this delicious scent. In the end, the hand lotion won out (currently sold as "Smitten").

For the facial moisturiser, they kept the almond oil base, but for a fragrance, they opted to go with the spiced carnation scent of their discontinued Potion body lotion. However they had a slight error in the kitchen and someone accidentally grabbed the other bottle of fragrance for it. Instead of binning it, (which would have been an utter waste), Lush decided to sell what they'd made anyway, especially considering how much Lushies lurve the almond scent of Snowcake soap. What a great mistake that was!

Almond Kisses does make your skin feel super soft; it's rich thanks to almond oil, but it goes on so smooth and its texture feels so comfortable on your skin. Almond Kisses is so soft to the touch and glides on the skin with ease, it is quickly absorbed and your skin is moisturised for hours. The great this is the scent stays with you all day too, although it's subtle (which is what it should be ideally) you can still smell it.

However, while Lush insists that Almond Kisses is excellent for all skin types, I would warn those with oily or combination skin that it's ultimately too heavy. Sure, it will feel wonderful on the skin, but as the day goes on, your own natural oils combined with this moisturiser will lead to a great deal of shine--what starts out as a non-greasy finish can indeed change for the worse. And long term use can lead to breakouts, especially during the summer when sebaceous glands are their most active.

On the other hand, Almond Kisses is perfect for those with normal to dry skin for increased elasticity, a lovely glow, and of course, all of the aforementioned strokeable softness sans side effects. Plus, with Almond Kisses, you subtly smell of sweet marzipan all day long, effectively keeping your sweet tooth at bay. Lovely faces, slimmer waistlines. What more could you ask for, especially from something that started out as a simple mistake in production?

What Lush says:-

Almond Kisses is our brand new moisturiser with super nutritious almond oil, absolutely the best there is for keeping faces feeling fabulous. It is scented naturally with rose and carnation ("Potion" fragrance) which are marvelous for keeping your skin soft and soothed, reducing redness and dryness. We recommend Almond Kisses for all kinds of skin, but if you are older or have dry skin, you are going to love it to bits. A generous helping of glycerine makes the difference; it absorbs and holds moisture in the skin. (It works like bringing the firmness back to a droopy houseplant by giving it a drop of water.) Your skin easily absorbs this silky cream; twenty minutes later your face will feel delightfully soft to the touch - perfect for dancing cheek to cheek.

As I said before Almond Kisses is only available in the USA and Austrailia but after recently checking the USA website it isn't listed which is a shame, however it's still on the Austrailian site and costs $55.95 (£28.00) which is quite expensive for something that really isn't suitable all year round!! However recently i've seen it listed on EBay which is easily accessible if you really want a pot!

Summary: A great little pot!
