Advantages: Smells gorgeous, Exfoliates brilliantly

Disadvantages: Price

My advancing pregnancy has taken it’s toll on me in many ways, and over the last few weeks I have felt my skin is dryer and lumpier than it was a few months ago. I knew it probably needed a decent exfoliator, so I decided to pop into Lush and see what they had. It was a warm reunion between myself and the gorgeous aromas. It had been many months since I last visited a Lush shop as so many of their ingredients don’t go well with pregnancy……not the ones I like anyway!!!

I spoke to the ever helpful assistant, and she recommended I try ‘Sandstone’. As usual, this soap is for use all over your body, but not for the face. This soap gets the name from the fact that there is a layer of sand present which when coupled with the trademark essential oils, creates a brilliant exfoliating experience, or at least that is what the claims was when the assistant told me about it.

I warn you now, it is now the most attractive product in the Lush range as the colour reminded me of dirty nappies, but then that is probably just me at the moment with all things baby on the brain, and the fruity aroma soon put paid to those thoughts! I bought a decent sized bit (approximately 2” x 5”), and it cost me £2.10, which as I always say I know is far more expensive than your standard bar of soap…..but then this is no standard bar of soap!!

That night, I took my goodie bag to the bathroom and decided to attack my lumpy skin with my sandstone. You can feel the sand, and you could be mistaken from thinking you will be minus more than just your dry skin when you are finished, but it is amazingly subtle and gentle with really good lather power, which I think it down to the white lumpy parts on the reverse side of the soap. It did not clear up my dry patches on the first attempt, especially my elbows, however I am happy to report that after 4 uses, I have noticed far less dry skin where it used to be, and my skin also has a slight glow about it when I have used this product as well as having a mild citrus smell to it.

I am more than happy with my latest Lush purchase, and recommend it to anyone with dry or lumpy bits they want to attack!!

Haven't tried this yet. Hope the sand doesn't block up the plug hole!
