Advantages: multitasking, refreshing, gives nice glow 2 face, tightens pores slightly
Disadvantages: price.. and recently bought the body shop's version of tea tree toner n prefer it
I still can't believe how well lush products have worked for my skin..to think I was spending hundreds on other cosmetics with very little success is quite depresssing...
the worst money iv spent in the last few years has to be on toner.. i only started using it when i was about 19 and realised i needed to proper skin care routine in the form of cleanse-tone-moisturise... however it feels like everyone i use either dries out my skin like crazy..makes it sticky/greasy or felt pleasant enough but didn't really do much to my skin. I was then as you can imagine not keen on trying this tree tea toner (called tea tree water) but upon pressure from the sales assistant (i lie she was v sweet i just like to think it wasn't my fault i spent quite so much at lush last week :-)..i bought a 100ml bottle!!
tea tree has been pretty effective for spot treatment and there has been research showing that tea tree is as effective for acne treatment as benzoyl peroxide! I bought the 100ml bottle for around 3 pounds and you can get the larher 240ml bottles for £6.21.. i wasn't sure if it would work for me so i bought the smaller bottle instead...
The packaging is the standard lush black plastic - which is made from 100% recycled plastic and has two labels on it. The main label describes the product and quoting the blurb on the bottle: tea tree water.. popular toner, tone detoxify oily skin with tea tree, grapefruit and juniper and take control of those troublesome pores. It instructs you use on cotton wool to remove excess cleanser and to refresh the skin. However I find I end up using waaaay too much of the product that way, so i usually spritz a generous amount onto my face and then wipe away with cotton wool pads...
There is second label.. a small round one telling you who it is made by and a "best before" date... as lush use very little preservatives in their products.
To be honest i wasn't blown away by the smell at first but got used to it.. it didnt smell to strongly of tea tree thank goodness! that stuff gives me a headache!
The toner is very refreshing and I use it refresh my face through the day - it also works well at setting make up also... however i see the greatest difference when i use it at night after cleansing... as i wipe the cleanser off my face i noticed my skin look incredibly fresh and smooth and my pores actually looked smaller... I can't say it did much for the existing spots but have only been using it for one week. While toner is not my favourite part of my skin care routine as far as toner's go this is definetly not bad. I prefer dermalogica;s multi active toner which tightens pores as well as hydrates the skin... this is much much cheaper and I will continue to use it until the weather turns deathly cold and i'll be need of maximum hydration. great summer toner to cleanse or freshen up through the day!
can also be used on feet, and chest to refresh... and omg i can't belief i almost forgot.. i have had embaressing case of back acne in the last month.. i'v noticed a huge improvement by sprayin a little of this on my back - it looks funny when im doing this myself but its well worth the effort. Im really happy with this product and price.
so there you have it..use it to freshen your face neck chester and feet during the hot summer days.. use on the back to dry and disinfect acne. use it after shaving/waxing to soothe skin... use it to set make up after doing ur face up..and use it as part of your three step cleansing routine!! the possibilities r endless...you can do so much with this tea tree water... oh today i mixed in with MAC pigment colour and it made it stay on longer and applying easier :-)
Summary: not a bad toner at all as far as toner goes, reccomended for oily acne prone teenage skin
