Advantages: good value for money, great at cleaning without drying out your skin

Disadvantages: none!

Ultrabland is suitably named...its not the first thing you'd want to buy if you go into a deliciously smelly Lush shop, but it is one of their more brilliant practical products.

Ultrabland is a mild facial cleanser which is suitable for all skin types. It looks like pale brown creamy stuff, and it doesnt have much of a detectable fragrance, apart from a slightly honey-ish whiff to it. And it comes in Lush's standard unexciting but practical (and recyclable) black packaging.

Ultrabland might look boring but it is one of the few products that has survived since Lush's beginning many years ago...they love to axe products and bring out new lines so this says volumes for it really.

You apply a small dot of ultrabland to your face, rub it in and wipe off with wet cotton wool. It has quite a greasy, sticky texture, and you have to use very small amounts otherwise it can be quite hard to remove and you can be left looking a bit greasy all day. It is very gentle, and being cream based it doesnt feel like its doing much good when it is on your skin, but when you take the cotton wool away you'll see loads of black gunky stuff on it. It cleans just as brilliantly as these harsh chemical cleaners like Clean and Clear but it doesnt strip your skin of all moisture as it does so. If you have very greasy or spotty skin, however, Ultrabland will probably make it worse, otherwise, its wonderful for those with normal or dry skin.

This is a real bargain product from Lush, £5.38 (if I remember correctly) for a 45 gram tub or £8.76 for 100 grams. It seems a small tub but because you only use a tiny amount it lasts absolutely ages, especially the big tub, and it is much cheaper and just as effective as some of the expensive "designer" brand cleansers out there.

So give your skin a treat, Ultrabland is great value for money and gentle on the skin yet a highly effective cleanser. Bargain!

Summary: Lush's best value cleanser
