Advantages: Cleanses skin, does not irritate, good for dryness

Disadvantages: Not good for oily skin!

After reading rave reviews on Ultrabland I decided to take a risk and purchase some! I got the little black pot, which cost just over £5, to try.

When I got home I read the reviews again and noticed that most people recommend it for dry skin. Oops... although my skin is very sensitive, it tends towards being slightly oily, although I do get dry patches on my cheeks from time to time, and in the winter my skin might be a bit dry.

However. having bought this product I set out to try it anyway. It is a thick cream, buttermilk or pale yellow in colour, with a mild inoffensive smell. To use, I washed my hands then took a small amount of Ultrabland and rubbed it on my face. I then took a cotton wool pad, moistened it under the tap, and removed the cleanser from my face.

I decided to stick with it for a week before giving my verdict.

On the plus side, my skin felt very clean and soft. Also, it wasn't irritated in any way! The only other cleanser that I can use on a regular basis without irritating my skin is Simple. Even things like Oil of Olay make my skin itch, so I was very impressed with this. My cheeks, which sometimes get slightly dry, felt very soft and moisturised. As a whole, my skin tone seemed a lot more even.

On the downside, I found the cleanser to feel quite sticky and greasy, and without cotton wool/muslin cloths/a towel it is impossible to remove from your face or hands! You cannot just wash it off. Also, my skin didn't feel any less oily, in fact it was slightly more greasy than usual. However, this is probably my fault owing to my failure to find out what type of skin this cleanser is suited for!

I would definitely recommend this cleanser to people with dry skin, especially if it's sensitive, as I feel it will work very well for them. I am very impressed that this cleanser doesn't irritate my skin. I won't be buying this again for myself, but I'll be going down to Lush to find out if there's a cleanser better suited to my skin type.
