Advantages: It is an excellent shave with easy grip handles etc.
Disadvantages: Can be expensive as blades need replaced often.
Lynx I had been a user of the fabulous Mach 3 by Gillette for around a year or so now and changed to this from the Wilkinson Sword Protector, which I also thought was very good. The need for change when shaving is very important I think and I also think it is psychologically important if you know what I mean? No! Well neither do I, but what I mean is, I think your skin gets used to a razor and no matter how often you change the blade you don?t seem to get that fantastic closeness that you used to. Am I blabbering or do those of you who shave really understand me here? Well anyway as the razor market had almost seemed to ease up with fantastic new ideas for shaving it looked like we were stuck with the good old Mach 3, which was and still is the market leader for razors. Then came the fantastic 70?s style ads advertising a new product from the leading experts in personal hygiene, this new product was a 3 blade protected razor designed for the closest and smoothest of shaves. I must admit at that time I never took up the challenge, as I was fairly satisfied with my Mach 3. Soon after though I was of on a shopping spree all on my own whizzing around Superdrug delighted at the aromatic smells and potions (you all know what I am like!) and I came across the Lynx razor, it was beautifully presented in a little capsule like pod with two razor heads, that was me hooked the look alone had me going. It was reasonable priced due to special offer of £1.99. So on to the shaver and why I thoroughly recommend it. The razor is approximately 4 inches long and has an arched shape to it. Along the handle there are little rubber nodules that protrude from the sides that are for use as easy grip handles. Very sexy! The razor head itself is detachable for changing and pushing a small mechanism forward easily does this. The blades themselves are the smallest I have seen on a razor but I can imagine this is how we manage to ge
t the smooth shave. They are protected by a fine wire mesh that is in place to get closer than close without actually cutting you. There is a small-moisturised tab along the top edge of the razor and it is a good idea to give this a soak for a few minutes before any shaving commences. When this is nice and moist it glides across your skin with no irritation at all. Also before shaving ensure that you foam well and use a good foam or gel. I prefer to use foam, gel just brings me out in spots, but the final choice is yours. Foam a few minutes before shaving to, as this will soften the bristles. When buying new razors these can be bought in packs of 4 and 8 unlike the usual 5 or 10. The prices in my local Superdrug are as follows 4 - £3.49 and 8 - £6.69 they are reasonably priced compared to other makes apart from there is less in your pack. As previously stated the razor comes in a fantastic little capsule this holds the razor itself and a cartridge of 6 blades, the capsule is fairly difficult to open with dry hands and can prove really tricky when wet. When shaving with the new Lynx razor I have found that I can consistently have a closer shave, the only thing is the blades do not last that long 2 ? 3 shaves at a max. I have found that if you tend to use the blade maybe for a 4th or 5th time then a stubble rash will appear and shaving can be abrasive. Overall it is a good shaving experience but it is also a quite expensive one when you take into consideration how many blades you get in a packet and how often they need replacing, although I would rather that than go back to the old days of disposable. An excellent new fresh idea from the Lynx range.

- 04/06/01 I've used this and found it really bad at shaving. I prefer my Gillette Mach 3 and Wilkinson Sword Diamond FX. Good op though! |

- 21/03/01 A razor that is sexy?? Hmm, must check it out. Does it turn into Noel from Hear'say while I'm in the middle of shaving my legs?? Oh well, just wondered :-) |
