Advantages: Smells really nice, cheap, left my skin soft and hydrated

Disadvantages: a nightmare if you get it in your hair

We're always being told eating chocolate is bad for our skin, but what about applying it directly to your face?! I recently bought a Montagne Jeunesse chocolate face mask, and although I do like most things chocolate, but once I got home, I did wonder what possessed me to buy this, as it seemed like a bit of a novelty product!

~About the product~

The mask is vegetarian approved as well as BUAV approved. The mask contains Dead Sea Salt, Cocoa butter and Shea butter, and promises that this will unblock pores, draw out impurities and leave you with 'renewed, re-hydrated and younger looking skin.' It is suitable for Normal, dry and 'T-Zone' skin.

~Packaging~

Like all Montagne Jeunesse masks, this comes in a sachet. The sachet has a small perforated part at the top corner to make opening it easier.

The front of the sachet shows a picture of a model wearing the mask, with large leaves on her eyes (something which seems to be a common theme on the front of these packets). As this is a chocolate mask, there are big chunks of chocolate in the middle of the leaves!

~Using it~

You should wash your skin in warm water only before use. I would also recommend tying long hair back and doing whatever you can to keep hair off your face. I had my hair tied back and an alice band, but still got a little bit of the product on my hair and it was an absolute nightmare to wash out once it had dried on!

The chocolate smell hits you as soon as you open the sachet. It does have a distinctive chocolate smell, but the smell isn't intense - it actually reminded me of chocolate ice cream or chocolate milk, as it has a sort of creamy smell to it, if that makes sense.

As you squeeze the product out of the sachet, you will see that it is a dark brown colour -similar to melted chocolate -and similar to the picture on the pack. It's a very thick consistency and there is more than enough product in the pack to cover the entire face in a thick layer.

It states that you should leave the product on the skin for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. I left it the full 15 by which time it had started to dry.

~Results~

As soon as I rinsed this off I could feel my skin was a lot softer. My skin is usually quite dry, but this left my skin feeling so much more moisturised. Although there was no immediate improvement to my skin, I felt that it looked better for a few days after using this.

~Price~

I paid 79p for this from Wilkinsons, but you can also buy this at Boots for a few pence extra.

~My Verdict~

Well, who knew? Chocolate can be good for your skin. This is by far the best Montagne Jeunesse mask I have tried so far, it smelled lovely, and left my skin lovely and soft. At only 79p it's a bargain too, and I would definitely recommend giving it a go.

Summary: A chocolate treat with a difference!
