Advantages: skin felt a little bit softer
Disadvantages: it feels like smearing cold chocolate pudding on your face
I was in need of some de-stressing and a mini pampering session last night so decided to use the montagne jeunesse chocolate face pack which has been lying in my bathroom cabinet for a while. I'm generally a fan of their mini sachets of lotions and potions and coming in at around £1 each are a perfect little treat.
These little masks can be fiddly to open but luckily Montagne Jeunesse now have a little circular tab you can pull to open this one; it doesn't make squeezing the contents out much easier though!
The mask itself is thick, brown and smells of chocolate. It reminded me of the heinz chocolate sauce you get in the tins of sponge pudding when I first squeezed it out, so much so that I decided to taste it. It also tasted very chocolate like for a few seconds until the soapy taste came through....yuck!
I did what the instructions said and smoothed it over cleansed skin. The mask went on easily but loads of it fell into the sink and made a right mess. I really hated the feeling as it started to go on as it felt cold and a bit slimy, like the cheap cartons of chocolate pudding. It started to thin out as the warmth from my skin heated it up.
Time to lie back and relax for 10 minutes while the mask does its magic. I can't say I felt relaxed with a splodge of chocolate pudding sitting on my face but I tried my hardest to think calm thoughts. After ten minutes the edges of the mask started to dry out.
Time to jump in the shower and reveal a gorgeous new me. With the mask containing sea salt, coaoa and shea butter it was bound to have some pretty good effects. The mask was easy enough to wipe away and rinse off but I didn't like the brown water that was cascading around me in the shower. When I got out I had a look at my face. My skin felt slightly softer but not as if it had been intensively moisturised or pampered in any way and by morning this softness had gone again. My skin looked pretty much exactly as it had done before, no reduced pores or radiant glow or anything.
I seem to be the only one who doesnt like this mask but then I've never been a big fan of food based cosmetics. It felt slimy and cold to use and did very little for my skin so this is one from the montagne jeunesse range that I won't be buying again.
Summary: Not a great mask.

- 14/04/09 I do buy these every now and again but like you have only ever really noticed my skin feeling slightly softer - not 100% convinced about them! The cucumber one feels quite nice though. Great review. |
