Advantages: Smells amazing
Disadvantages: You can't eat it
I''ve gone a bit face masque crazy recently, ever since I spotted these in my local branch of Sainsbury's I've been choosing a different one every week. It's become quite an enjoyable, relaxing and self indulgent treat and I can say that all this extra pampering is certainly improving my skin.
Now I didn't really fancy the Chocolate Mud Masque, I've picked it up a few times and put it back down again as other varieties have seemed more appealing. The whole thought of the chocolate just sounded a bit icky and thought it would be a bit sickly to have on my skin. After having a look at the packaging though, it did sound as it would be perfect for me. It was for combination skin and promised to give skin a deep clense. This time I was suitably tempted and into my shopping basket it went.
These masques come in single use sachets and I believe it cost 99p from my local Sainsbury's. I think that this is a great price as you only need to use one of these once a week, so you can really boost your skincare regime by only spending an extra £1 a week.
That evening, took my makeup up using a clenising wipe, fastened my hair back and I was ready to rock and roll. I opened the sachet and began to squeeze the sachet. Out came quite a thick gloopy cream that was chocolate brown in colour. Then the aroma hit me, my word there was no mistaking that this was a chocolate treatment, it really did smell good enough to eat. Now for the fun bit, I smeared the masque all over my face and neck until I had used it all up.
The instructions say to leave it one for 10-15 minutes or until the masque has dryed. I went for the latter but it did take condsiderably longer for it to dry, I would say over 30mins. I then began to wash it off, I used a sponge and it was soon evident that this would take quite a bit of effort to remove. It did take me a while to remove every trace of brown from my face and I have to admit that it did turn my lovely new sponge a rather unattractive shade of brown.
After patting my face dry, I was really impressed that my skin did feel incredibly soft. It also had a fresher appearance and I do think that the appearance of my pores were reduced. I was left with the faint aroma of chocolate on my skin also which I quite enjoyed.
This masque really impressed me, it was far more pleasant experience than I had expected and it lived up to the claims on the packet. I would definately use again.
Summary: A great skin treatment
