Montagne Jeunesse face tonic masks are cloths face masks that you put over your face for about 5 minutes, to let the liquid sink into the skin and perk it up.

There are 7 different varieties of face tonics according to the MJ website. They describe this as skin revitalising and relaxing treatments. They say that the aromas of the masks will help relax the user and fresher up the skin in a 5 minute treatment.

Since I'm pretty happy with most of the MJ products I've tried, I thought I'd give this a go as they were only 99p at my local Boots.
I bought the vibrant fresh skin-fast orange oil & vitamin C face tonic (long name I know!).

The sachet is colourful, drop shaped and has instructions on the back. It said that I should poke out the eye, nose and mouth holes and put it on my face for 5 minutes.
So I took it out of the sachet, it was soaked in the liquid and smelt very strongly of oranges. I took the eye, nose and mouth pieces out of the mask and put it on my face.

The scent was overwhelming, I was finding it quite hard to breathe. I thought I'd persist and just put up with it, if it meant me getting nicely perked up skin. A couple more seconds in and my skin was starting to feel a bit tingly, not too uncomfortable so I just ignored that as well.

Then, about a minute in, my skin got a bit too irritated and uncomfortable and the scent just wouldn't fade. It was way too strong for my liking.

It was the worst 5 minutes I spent trying to bare this prickly, strong smelling cloth on my face. When I took it off, I didn't really notice anything different except my eyes were a bit watery from the heavy aroma it was surrounded by.

I'll never buy this again, it wasn't worth the 99p and definitely was not a relaxing and revitalising experience. Many of their products were awesome but this is sadly not one of them!

Summary: the most unpleasant 5 minute face mask yet
