Advantages: deep cleans, leaves a radiant glow, easy removal

Disadvantages: none

I was well chuffed this Christmas to wake up and find a stocking on my bed courtesy of hubby. I was like a big child and even though the kids were all at my bedroom door asking if they could go downstairs to get their presents I wouldn't let them until I had opened my stocking. It may seem strange but even cotton wool pads when contained in a Christmas stocking are seen in a new light.

Of the many little bits and pieces pulled out there were three different Montagne Jeunesse face masks and I couldn't wait to try one as I was sitting in the bath. I chose the deep cleansing hot vanilla fudge sauna mask first probably due to the name.

The packaging claims that the fudge sauna mask gently warms open pores drawing out dirt and grime and contains rich meditterranean clay. Sounds good so far as clay based masks are well known for their cleansing powers.

The sachet was easily opened simply tear across the top and the smell of the contents hit me immediately. Although their was a distinct fudge smell it reminded me more of the caramel icing on my favourite caramel éclair buns and as I had it on all I could think about was going to the bakery asap and getting one.

The mask itself was quite a thick consistency but easy to spread around the face area. On contact with the skin the cream immediately begins to heat, I found this a little scary as most self heating masks take some time to heat up, and began to wonder if maybe I was allergic to it. Within a few seconds of contact however the heat subsided and I began to apply the remainder.

The sachet contained plenty of product to cover the whole face.
I relaxed in the bath for the recommended 15 minutes for the mask to work (I always leave it on for the maximum time to get my moneys worth) and then began to wash off the still creamy mask. Once the hot water touched the mask it again began to heat up but this only lasted for the few seconds it took to remove each portion. I do prefer peel off masks as you don't find bits of mask stuck behind your ears hours later but this mask was easily removed in one go.

On removal my face has a nice pink glow and did look thoroughly clean and even a little plumped but on touching it felt a little dry. One large dose of heavy duty moisturiser later and I examined my face again. The pink healthy glow was still there and it certainly felt clean and now moisturised as well.

This mask was very easy to use , seemed to improve the look and tone of my face but I think half the use of a face mask is just to feel that you have treated yourself and this beautifully smelling, thick creamy mask definitely makes you feel as though you have given yourself that salon treatment that you can't really afford to pay for.

Montagne Jeunesse branded face masks are 99p a sachet and are often available on three for two or bogof and I feel as a treat for yourself they are worth the money even if they don't provide a miracle makeover more a little glow.

Summary: Go on give yourself a cheap treat

I bought about 5 to 7 of these for a friend recently and she loves them every year, all different fruity flavours including this one.
