Advantages: Great clensing treatment
Disadvantages: Highly perfumed
In my somewhat pointless battle to hold back the years I have steppeed it up a gear recently regarding my skincare regime. To be honest I have always been a little lazy and most definately inconsistant when it comes to looking after my skin. I go through real phases, I find a product I love and then use it religiously, but then if I'm using something that I'm not all that blown away by I become a bit lax. In the last few weeks, I been trying to be a little stricter and one extra thing that I have been doing is a weekly face masque.
The brand that I have veered towards is the Montagne Jeunesse individual face masques. The seem to be easily available and now i have started using them I am spotting them everywhere. I usually buy mine from Superdrug or Boots and they cost 99p for a sachet which is enough for a single treatment. The brand does stand out at the packaging is really bright and colourful. There are loads of different masques available from this brand and the some in in all different types.
I was drawn to the peel-off masques as they didn't sound quite as messy and also I thought that they would give my skin a really good clense and also remove all the dead skin cells. I was hoping I would look fresher and renergized - well we all can hope can we not? The masque I chose was the 'Passion Peel Off' It sounded scrummy and exactly the type of treatment I was looking for. It contained Pomegrantate, Passion Flower, Raspberry, Grape, Cranberry & Vitamin E so I was expecting it to smell delicious. I was quite excited about giving it a whirl, and mentally penciled in a long soak in the bath that evening.
Ok so later on that evening when my girls were tucked up in bed I gave it a go, the sachet opened easily, just by ripping open the top and I gave it a squeeze and out gave this raspberry coloured clear thick gel. The smell hit me immediately, it was incredibly fruity and I could especially smell the aroma of cranberries. I then began to smear the masque all over my face so that a thin layer covered my whole face excluding the area close to my eyes. It felt really nice and cool on my skin and actually rather soothing, so far it was a very pleasant experience.
I continued applying the masque until I had used all the sachet and there was enough for me to also to my neck. The instructions said to leave for 15-20 mins to allow the masque to dry, so I sat back and relaxed. It was then that my eyes became a little stingy, now it wasn't very bad but I just thought I'd mention it, i'm not sure whether it was because the masque is quite perfumed but as soon as it began to dry out and set, the stinging stopped.
As the masque dried, I could feel my whole face tightening, I quite enjoyed this sensation but my husband said that I looked kind of freaky. After 20 mins the masque had almost completely dried but I did leave it for a few more minutes just so it could dry completely. Then for the fun bit....peeling it off, now this is so much fun, it reminded me of the p.v.a glue I used at primary school.
I was left with a few bits here and there, so I would recommend doing this bit in front of a mirror to avoid potential humiliation. So how did it do...did I look 10 year younger?? In a word 'no' but do you now what, my skin did look better. I just looked fresher, and my skin looked and felt softer. My pores were minimised and my face did look deeply clensed. I loved this masque, would definatley buy again but also want to try the rest of the range. It's a real indulgent treat withough breaking the bank.
Summary: Fab clensing product
