Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: doesn't work!
As I have mentioned in previous reviews, I have amassed a large amount of beauty products, and I am slowly working my way through them, in order to free up a bit of space, before the products take over my entire house! The latest product I am using, is Natural Collection's tea tree facial scrub.
~Packaging~
This comes in a clear, squeezy tube, with black logo, through which you can see the mint green coloured scrub. One thing that struck me about the tube is how big it is compared to most other scrubs, the ones I usually buy tend to come in 75ml tubes, but this one is 125ml, so you do get a lot of product for your money.
~Using it~
Tea tree is quite a strong oil with a fairly strong scent, which has been known to make my eyes water! This scrub, although it definitely has a tea tree scent, it is really quite mild and it also has an almost creamy scent. In a sense this is good as it means that the smell is not too overpowering, but on the other hand, it also seems to indicate that there isn't actually a lot of tea tree in the product at all. The product claims that the tea tree oil will help to 'eliminate skin blemishes and spots', but with such a low concentrate of it, I find this fairly difficult to believe.
The scrub has quite a creamy consistency but isn't very thick. It also doesn't seem to have many grains in it, and so using it, I felt like it wasn't really doing its job very well. The tube does instruct you to massage in for a minute, and maybe that's because any less and it probably wouldn't have much effect at all.
~Results~
My skin definitely felt a bit smoother after use, but the try patches I tend to get on my forehead were still there, so it seemed to me that it hadn't worked at all, as a good scrub would have removed them. After using the scrub, I wasn't happy so used my Avon Clearskin one, and that removed all dry patches.
~Price~
This is fairly cheap at (if I remember rightly) about £1.49, and as I mentioned the tube is fairly big, but all that means nothing if it does not produce the desired results.
~Overall Opinion~
I was really disappointed in this scrub, for a tea tree product, it didn't seem to have much tea tree in it, and it didn't do the job it was made for. My advice - stay well clear
Summary: Tea Tree scrub

- 13/02/08 Im slightly confused by this review. Tea Tree oil to the best of my experience is great for spots but you've reflected on dry patches on your face, so how can that be tied in with what the product promises?
I'd get this product if I had spots again, but at the same time I'd welcome the amount of grains in it - some facial scrubs I've used have left scars because of the amount of grain within the gel/cream and can be too abrasive. |
