Advantages: Fragrance is wonderful
Disadvantages: Expensive
Neal's Yard palmarosa essential is 100% oil and this is very important. Never accept any essential oil that is not pure. With the Neal's Yard brand name there is no need to worry though.
Palmarosa is one of the less well known essential oils but certainly worth trying. It is expensive and costs £6.49 for a 5 mil bottle, so it needs to be used sparingly.
The fragrance can only be described as warm, sweet, powdery, and rosy. It also works well if you like to blend oils together as it holds it own fragrance distinctively. Soap makers often choose this aromatherapy oil because it doesn't loose its perfume like most other oils do.
Palmarosa is excellent for troublesome skin but never use it neat on your skin as it is strong and can cause adverse reactions. Mix a few drops with twice as many drops of carrier oil. For a bath add 4 drops to 20 drops of carrier. Aromatherapist will usually recommend 4% strength but I have found that 25% works well with this oil.
Gently massage it into affected areas and it will stimulate skin cell regeneration and help control greasy skins by regulating sebum production. It also moisturises the skin and can help to slow down the appearance of wrinkles. I use it beneath my eyes, but take great care not to get it into your eyes because it may cause irritation.
Palmarosa refreshes the skin and has an aromatherapy fragrance that is categorized as uplifting for the emotions and calming during times of stress.
It may be difficult to buy Neal's Yard palmarosa and I don't know of any other brand available readily but it can be found by searching the internet. It is one of those very useful, fragrant oils that we don't hear much about because it is not popular in aromatherapy at this time.
Summary: Use for skin blemishes and wrinkles
