Neutrogena PureGlow Daily Cleansing Cushions

When I had quite a few spots, I decided that I needed to change the way I dealt with my skin. I had a look in Boots and came across these. Neutrogena PureGlow Daily Cleansing Cushions. It was buy one, get one free at the time as I thought I was getting a good deal at £4.99. But did I? Let's find out.

* The Cushions *

There are different cushions for different types of skin. In the shops, I've seen Normal to Dry skin, Normal to Combination skin, Combination to Oily skin. They come in a box of 22. They are made by Neutrogena who are owned by Johnson & Johnson. The packaging comes in 5 different languages. English, German, Dutch, French and something that looks like Russian. It says on the packaging "Daily Cleansing Cushions for the fresh glow of a professional spa-facial." "The beaded side helps cleanse deep down to help remove dirt and oil whilst its ultra fine exfoliators sweep away dulling impurities. The soft striped side moisturises to replenish skin for a silky soft after-feel." You can keep these 12 months before they go off, well, lose some fragrance and effect. Don't throw these down the toilet as they block up the drains.

* The Testing *

I had read instructions. Something I don't always do but I wanted this to work and have clean skin like in the advert where Kristin Kreuk (who's known for playing Lana Lang/Luthor in Smallville) has the most perfect of skin. Okay, maybe I was kidding myself a bit but I was slightly young than I am now plus I wanted to have clean skin.

I opened the box and there they were, wrapped in a plastic bag. 22 perfect little cushions (covers as one side has a hole in them so you can put your fingers in it) that will make my face feel like it's had a spa-facial. One side has the beads on it and the other side the stripes. The fragrance, I would say, it isn't very strong at all. Smells like clean, slightly flowery soap. So I followed the direction of the box, I put my fingers into the cushion and placed the beaded side up under some warm water. Then the cushion foamed slightly and still didn't smell of much. I started to gently rub it all over my face and neck in circular motions. It felt sticky. Then I used the striped side to moisturise and massage. It still felt sticky. Then I rinsed it off thoroughly with some warm water. My face felt lovely and refreshed. It looks clean.

I was happy but after using this for about a week and half, I noticed yes, that my spots were starting to go but that it seemed to be some scarring where my spots were before, especially on my cheeks. It was like exfoliators were far too harsh for my skin even though they look harmless enough. For weeks after, I felt so conscious of my face more than I did when I had spots. A year later, the scarring has nearly gone with the help of Bio Oil and not using this product again.

* Overall Thoughts *

I was very disappointed with this product. It did exfoliate, cleanse and moisturise my skin, just gave me something else that I didn't want, scarring. Neutrogena does a lot of products for people with spots but I feel that they should put a warning on saying that people with any spots should be careful in using it as it may cause scarring. I only ended up using about 10-12 of these and I still have another box.
So definitely a waste of money for me but if you don't have spots, it's okay to use but still expensive if you do have that perfect skin (that I want, give it to me lol).

Summary: Don't use if you have any spots
