Advantages: It cleanses so well and removes all your make-up leaving tingly smooth skin.
Disadvantages: Buying new cleansing pads for it?
Sometime last week I saw the new Neutrogena Wave Power Cleanser advertised on the TV. When I watched the advert I thought it seemed like such a good idea! After all, toothbrushes vibrate and do a better job, why not the same with a face cleanser? I was intrigued and came online to find out the price, expecting it to be quite pricey. However after searching on the Boots website I discovered it was £12.71, but Boots are currently doing it for £3 off making it only £9.71.
When I was in Boots at the weekend I found the Neutrogena Power Cleanser amongst the other skin care products and with the rest of Neutrogena's range.
The Neutrogena Wave cleanser is basically a little cleanser which vibrates. It has a cleansing pad on it which you use on your face as you would with a normal clensing pad.
Neutrogena claim this new power cleanser will transform your cleansing routine, and has a deep intense clean for a refreshing feeling and remarkably softer skin.
They say it's clinically proven to prove exceptional cleansing in 3 ways:-
* Tingly, cool foam penetrates into pores to efficiently rempve dirt, oil and make up.
* Gentle vibratibng motion stimulates the skin's surface - the massaging action opens pores to enable the lather to get deep within.
* Softly textured pads sweep away dead skin cells, the skin is immediately smoother after just 1 use.
The box itself also claims that you will have softer skin after just 1 use on the front of it and enchances the phrase 'deep clean' twice.
After reading the box I decided to buy it. I've used many different cleansers and toners from different brands, and this vibrating one was definetly a first for me and I haven't seen a product like it. I noticed on the shelf next to it seperate boxes selling just the cleansing pads in boxes of 30 pads. I checked the box with the power cleanser in it and it comes with 14 pads. The price for a box of 30 pads is £4.88, at the moment it's only £3.88 in Boots however at approximately 16p a pad using the original price I wouldn't say this is too bad at all! You can often pay the same or more for a cleansing scrub.
I decided not to buy a seperate box of pads for now though, just incase I didn't like the Wave Power Cleanser.
So that night instead of taking my make up using my normal cleansers I opened up this one. The cleanser itself is pink and white, the pink bits are slightly rubbery so you get a good grip. One pink side opens up where the AA battery pops in, and the other side has the power button in the corner. The AA battery is included in the box which I was quite surprised at, it's not too often things come with batteries. The box claims the cleanser is water resistant and can be used at the sink or even in the shower.
At the top of the cleanser is a disc which comes off. At first I was abit confused as to where the cleansing pad itself goes but you simply stick it on the top and it acts much like a velcro fastening! The cleansing pads themselves are lovely and soft and thick, not thin and cheap. You can almost feel the cleansing product in them as well, it's not used sparingly. The box then tells you to hold the cleanser under running water to 'activate' the cleansing pad and then simply turn on by the pressing the power button and begin to massage your face!
At first when I started massaging one cheek I was a bit dismayed, there was no froth. However it soon started to appear, it didn't froth up too much either it was just nice. I found the cleanser very easy to 'navigate' over my face and the vibrations didn't feel uncomfortable at all, only slightly on my hand. I rubbed in circular motions on my skin except on my nose and it really feels like I am doing a thorough cleanse. Despite it being flat it was easy to use on the nose as it's foams nicely and the cleanser itself isn't too big, so that isn't a problem here.
My make-up came off easily and it didn't stain the cleansing pad completely orange, the foam cleaned that away nicely.
After a few minutes of this massaging I turned off the cleanser and splashed warm water on my face to get rid of the foam. I then cleaned the cleanser. I had to rip the pad off the grip attachment and then rinse it under the tap as bits of the pad were stuck to it! The cleanser was very easy to clean, I just ran it under warm water then tried it on a towel. Although be careful because the velcro like attachment likes to stick to your towels so don't forget to remove it! The cleansing pad then goes in the bin.
My face felt very tingly, but in the way it feels when you've just rubbed toner on your face, but in a very refreshing and clean way. My skin felt very smooth and it seemed to just look really clean!
My skin did start to feel a bit tight, I do have very combination skin, so I put my moisturiser on afterwards and it felt fine.
I have since used the power cleanser several times and I am extremely pleased with the results. Each time my skin feels so fresh and tingly and just generally feels really clean! I've never felt my skin feel so good using any other cleanser.
I am definetly going to contine to use this power cleanser, it does a thorough job at removing make up and your skin just feels very clean and fresh afterwards. The box is right, your skin is smooth after just one use!
The only bad thing I could see to this product is if Neutrogena decide to discontinue it then it will be rendered useless as you have to buy the cleansing pads especially. It's most likely other brands may try to copy this little cleanser so I'll have to keep an eye out for that! However at £12.71 RRP this is a great little beauty tool and you really will get your money's worth!
Summary: What a great invention!
