Advantages: Kind to the skin, economical and highly practical

Disadvantages: Not the cheapest product available

Luckily I don't have to shave too often - I have sensitive skin and even a standard wet shave can leave me looking like Sweeney Todd has gotten to me if I don't pay attention to what I'm doing. As a young(er) person I tried doggedly to get by shaving with the economical options of no name shaving foam and disposable stick razors, but results were painful and unpredictable. I'm now of the opinion that I only have one face and I may as well treat it right!

*A great improvement on the face wash!*

My most recent review bemoaned the poor quality of Nivea for Men sensitive face wash, but this top quality shaving gel is a different kettle of fish altogether. It helps keep my skin from becoming inflamed, offers a smooth finish to shaving and lasts for ages.

*Pricing and availability*

This shaving gel is widely available from all the usual outlets (supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug etc.) and it can often be bought as part of a gift or travel bag, which may work out more economically if you would use the other products batched with it.

I haven't seen it for less than £4, but if anyone else has please let me know and I'll rush out and stock up. Like most branded shaving products you pay a premium for both quality and also the advertising power of the associated brand.

*You smoothie!*

My experience of this product has been overwhelmingly positive. It has a typically neutral smell (ideal and expected of products for sensitive smell) and flows well from the can.

Just a small amount (the manufacturers recommend a picturesque 'hazelnut-sized blob') provides good coverage for my face and neck area once it starts to foam and a thin layer makes a big difference to comfortable shaving. With one wet shave a week a can of this lasts me for 4-5 months.

The shaving experience is also great, with the razor skating gracefully over the skin without giving me any nicks or redness. This is probably partially because I use a good quality wet razor too, but I'm sure that the shaving gel has a lot to do with it.

The après shaving experience is one of the best I've experienced. My skin is left feeling soft, supple and not at all irritated. The shaving gel also contains Vitamin E and moisturisers and I'm left with the feeling that there's a very thin layer of moisture on my skin, leaving me feeling healthy and comfortable.

A great product from Nivea - recommended highly for both regular or occasional use.

Summary: Nivea For Men Sensitive Shaving Gel is a reliable product at a pragmatic price
